It might be wishful thinking, hoping that Termarr Johnson falls to the Twins at #8. But if he did, would it be possible to pass on a player that Baseball America says is, "one of the most advanced pure hitters to come out of high school since... Joe Mauer"?

I think not.

The Twins-only 10-round Mock Draft was a late addition to the 2022 Plan. During my first run covering the draft at TwinsDaily, it was an annual staple. It was always fun and looking back sparked some good memories.

In the first full week following the abrupt departure of their pitching coach, the Minnesota Twins saw their pitching results spiral in a nearly staff-wide implosion, with leads repeatedly evaporating. 

The result was another unfulfilling .500 week that felt like it should have been much more.

The Twins found a way to win their last of three against the Rangers in Texas Sunday afternoon. What could have ended as a sweep and the Twins first four-game losing streak of the season turned into a win thanks to home runs, errors, and some luck. 

Not a lot of surprise, but MLB announced this afternoon that both Luis Arraez and Byron Buxton have been named to their first All-Star teams. 

Major League Baseball recently announced the starters for the 2022 MLB All-Star Game. Two Twins players deserved to be among the starting nine, and here's how they stack up.

Minnesota’s relief core has been an unmitigated disaster this season, which has fans clamoring for an upgrade. However, trading for relievers doesn’t always work out perfectly. 

The game went back-and-forth a few times. On Friday night, the Rangers used a six-run inning to get the win. On Saturday afternoon, the Twins had a six-run inning, but that proved to not be enough. 

The Twins had a promising start to the series opener against the Rangers, especially on defense, but a Sonny Gray meltdown in the fifth inning was enough for Texas to secure a come-from-behind win.

There’s no denying it, Byron Buxton has had a great season to date. Despite leading the team in all kinds of categories, it’s been a weird one. Is there any reason to worry about the Twins franchise icon moving forward?

Although the Minnesota Twins have basically gone wire to wire thus far, no one else seems to want to challenge them. Detroit has taken down the White Sox and Guardians of late, which has increased Minnesota’s lead and provides opportunity for the Twins to run and hide.

I can still vividly remember the most formative weekend of my baseball fandom. In some ways, it led to everything I am today as a baseball writer and Twins Daily cofounder.
