Spring training is right around the corner, and many national sites are starting to preview the 2023 season. Here are Minnesota’s top contenders for MLB’s major awards.

The Minnesota Twins are looking at 2023 needing to put up a winning season for the first time since 2021. A significant portion of that being a possibility rests on the shoulders of the guys currently within the organization. Given the graduations from Minnesota’s farm system, Derek Falvey needs to see youth carry the next wave of competitiveness.

With the arrival of a new year, it's time to update my annual rankings of the top 20 player assets in the Minnesota Twins organization.

This is my sixth year going through this exercise, and I think I can safely say it's never been harder. Read on to see where I landed on #16 through #20 for the list.

Take one more look back at the 2022 Twins according to their most-viewed articles. this one just might have you laughing at crying. 

In 2022, Twins Pass in hand, for better or worse, I went to 57 Twins games: 56 at Target Field and one at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago. At about 3 hours and 3 minutes a pop, the average length of an MLB game in 2022, I spent roughly 174 hours at the ballpark watching Twins games. When I confided in friends how many games I attended, their reactions ranged from amusement to shock. Even though the Twins did not make the playoffs (not that you needed a reminder), I do not regret going to any of them. You know the old saying, "the time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time?" Here’s what I noticed from my 57 games in Twins Territory. 

Twins fans find themselves anxiously waiting for a starting pitcher to truly break out and lead the team to success. While veterans that were acquired from outside the organization such as Sonny Gray, Tyler Mahle and Kenta Maeda all have the ability to carry a rotation, many are craving a breakthrough from an arm on the prospect level.

After looking back at some of the Twins longest long balls of 2022 yesterday, we go to the other side of the ball today and look at the best starts of the season by the Twins staff.

Twins bring back lefty reliever for fourth season with the franchise. 

Coming into the 2023 Minnesota Twins season it couldn’t be more apparent that the success of this team will largely rely on the development and production generated from internal talents. As Derek Falvey and Thad Levine have waited out free agency, only small tweaks have been made to the expected lineup. One of the biggest boosts could be the long-awaited emergence of Trevor Larnach.

The shelves in Oakland are bare as the A’s continue to gut their roster. One key piece remains however, and if Billy Beane and company are looking to shed even more payroll, the Twins should be on the phone.

There’s no denying that things have gone wrong for the Minnesota Twins each of the past two seasons. From being a near-90 loss team in 2021, to falling flat halfway through the year a season ago, it’s time the tide turns. There’s plenty of offseason left for the roster to change, but there’s renewed hope with Opening Day 2023.
