3 Potential Twins Trade Targets on the Rise

I rather we just trade for about 4 effective bullpen arms.  We don't need a 1B or a Catcher.  We need Pitching with a big ol PERIOD.

I agree.  There was just an article with many posters stating why Kirilloff should remain in the minors and not at 1st for the Twins.  If we are in the bottom of the American League in production...maybe we do need to call up Kirilloff.  It would be a killer when we trade Kirilloff for Mancini so Mancini can play 1st for us!

You are right.  Bullpen arms and starting pitching.  If it isn't that, don't do the trade.

I would take the first two - not Mancini - redundant.  Kiriloff has that position when the Twins wake up.  Castillo could really upgrade the rotation - but who do we give up?  We seem to have some positions with two many bodies - can we clear the congestion and add a pitcher?

If Sanchez is gone after this year we have only Jeffers.  A good catcher would be a fine addition. 

Dont need another 1B.  Bullpen is priority with Rocco's 4 inning starter proclivity

Mancini is a no for me dog, but the other two I would take, for the right price, but do not feel we need either to make the playoffs.  I do agree upgrading the pen will help us the most. I am not for selling off the whole farm though to upgrade just for this season. 

The 3 players are good players and Castillo would fulfill a Twins need but at what trade value and at what resigning price? Will #2 prospect Martin,  &#16 Sands be adequate and a resigning salary of $125m for 5 years do the job? 
The relief pitcher market seems to be uncertain and no headliners. The relief pitcher will have to be creative. I would explore a trade with Pittsburgh for Bednar and Stratton for #9 Steer & Strotsman  & bottom # prospect.  Bednar has good stats, contract control & age & . Stratton is reasonable priced, 5-8 inning relief, ground ball pitcher, age is good. These two trades would improve Twins. The loss of these five prospects can be absolved by the Twins with the way the major league roster is structured with skill and age, and the minors are structured with skill sets.

They're all perfectly fine players, but Castillo is the only one I might be interested in to enhance the rotation. And frankly, I'm more interested in a bullpen arm than any position players right now. yes, it would be great to get more offensive production out of jeffers slot in the lineup but a) we also have Sanchez who is doing fine, b) I'm not sure I'm ready to give up on Jeffers, and c) this would cost a lot. With 1B, we have Kirilloff looking to return at any time, so why would we fling a bunch of prospect capital to upgrade there when the best option might be in-house?

I'd like to add a bullpen arm, especially with Alcala not rejoining the team any time soon. A power arm to add to Duran/Pagan/Jax on the righty side would be a significant help, and I'm not sure we have the right blend in the minors to step in to high leverage spots.

Castillo is great if we can get him. Also we need relief help. We should look into Pittsburgh's closer Bednar. Pittsburgh's  not going to win anything. So they might in the mood for a trade.

Also, I was thinking about Contreras the other day. Does anyone recall any big-time, mid-season catcher trades recently? Since half of the catcher's job is familiarizing himself with the pitchers, it would seem to me that catcher of all positions would be the most difficult to expect strong results from after a mid-season trade. But it was only a thought as I don't really remember any trades since Piazza got moved twice. Which admittedly worked out well for the Mets.

Jonathan Lucroy was dealt to the Rangers at the deadline after declining a trade that would've sent him to Cleveland. That's all I've got.

As the deadline approaches what is available becomes clearer. Bullpen rentals looks like the most need and usually only cost lottery tickets. Hopefully those lottery tickets are not the equivalent of Ynoa  

Considering the previous trades, the Twins have very few Ryan era prospects left to trade. Ynoa, Giza, Gill, Davis, Wade and Graterol were all Ryan era players. Enlow Leach and Balazovic are about it

Agreed!  Hour is getting late, but a few---imo---realistic options that our FO should be considering to acquire.  

David Bednar (RH-RP)-PIT.  2-1 with 11 SV and 4 HLD. 1.14 ERA/ 0.79 WHIP. K-BB rate:  42-7.

Dillon Peters (LH-RP)- PIT.  Currently on 15-day IL---so health issues are a concern. 4-2 W-L record with 3 HLD. 3.86 ERA. 1.17 WHIP

PIT is 10.5 games out in NL Central.  For sure building to future.

Joe Mantiply (LH-RP)- AZ.  1-0 with 1 SV and 6 HLD. 0.37 ERA/ 0.90 WHIP

Will see him this weekend.  AZ is only 5 games under .500 but, like PIT, is a non-contender in AL west.

Steven Okert (LH-RP)- MIA.  3-0/ 2.75 ERA/ 1.12 WHIP.  9 HLD with a good K-BB rate: 28-10

MIA is already 11.5 games back in tough NL East.  Like others, building for future.

Brock Burke (LH-RP)- TX. 4-1 with a 0.83 ERA and 1.01 WHIP. 38-10 K to BB rate

Although only 4 games under .500 (29-33), TX is 10 games out in AL West.  Another team desperate to add prospects.

AJ Puk (LH-RP)-OAK. 1-0; 6 HLD/ 1.69 ERA and 1.01 WHIP with a 24-5 K to BB rate

OAK is stuck in AL West cellar---18.5 games out. Would like to see Puk with 1 of their top C prospects also being acquired.  Would take multiple prospects but a package of Martin, Sands, Enlow and another high or low A hitting prospect (CES- from Cedar Rapids) might get OAK to make a deal.

I know this list is LH "heavy"---but I believe adding at least 1..... WITH.... Bednar would significantly help this team as this current group is currently running on fumes as their being asked to cover at least 4 innings every night.

I'd like a real first baseman and a catcher who can throw out a runner.

Montas is my first choice, Contreras second.  

Castillo or, honestly, Mahle would be good additions. Ideally a Montas trade would be nice, but who knows what the A's want in return.
