Celestino's mad dash.  Pretty lax effort out of Rooker in left as well.  And that's why he's a former Twin (among other things).

That throw to third was pure bush league.  Rooker will probably be playing in the Bloomington Fireman's Softball Tournament in less than a couple years.

I think the only way for Miranda to win is for Rodriguez to get hurt and Miranda to put up video game numbers the last six weeks.  4.1 > 1.1 bWar is a tough hill to climb.

IIRC, a rookie gets a full year of service time if he finishes in the top three in the ROY voting. That would be a real bonus for Miranda since he hasn't been up all year.

I guess we can't have nice things around here. Just when you thoughts things were turning for the better we lose what may be our best pitcher... And to rub salt in the wound we get to see Pagan in the 3rd inning.

Nobody knows what happened yet. All we know is his velocity was down.

I question Witt Jr's baseball IQ, with him throwing that ball.  but I guess when you're not in contention, you just let it fly.

Or, in Rooker's case shotput it three feet in front of the cutoff.

Never been more attention paid to avoiding injury but there’s never been more injuries

It's temping to see a correlation here, but the best evidence indicates there likely isn't one. Injuries are way up among pitchers, but it's likely due to the fact that pitchers are throwing (on average) quite a bit harder than they used to. Almost hard to believe, but as recently as the 1980s the AVG fastball velocity was somewhere between 84 & 87MPH.

200 innings with a 92-96 mph fastball is a LOT more stress on the arm & elbow than 200 innings sitting 84-87mph. Huge amounts of torque in the delivery nowadays, more than ever.

And throwing overhand is not a natural motion.

Don't ignore the fact that today's pitchers have better training, diet and technique.  Arm just wasn't built to pitch.
