How Does the 2021 Eddie Rosario Experience End?

Twins fans understand the Eddie Rosario Experience. The exhilarating highs. The baffling lows. The “I can’t believe he just did that, why did he do that, wait it worked never mind” feeling of watching the man patrol the outfield or swing at a pitch that is currently behind him.

Atlanta is getting their first taste of the very best part of the ERE, as he demolishes whatever Los Angeles throws at him and puts the Dodgers on the brink of elimination. This is the Eddie that we all grew to love in Minnesota.

HOWEVER.

We know what comes next.

I shouldn’t say we know exactly what comes next. The beauty of the ERE is not knowing how he comes crashing back to earth. Sometimes it’ll be a garden variety mistake like missing a cutoff man or blowing through a stop sign. Others are things that approach art. Given the stakes, it seems obvious that the latter is more likely. Here are my three best guesses as to what comes next:

• Absolutely nothing. Eddie Rosario continues his blistering pace and carries Atlanta to a World Series title. Minnesota let him walk and Cleveland traded him for the ghost of Pedro Sandoval, of course two of America’s most cursed sports cities would give Eddie extra mojo.
• An outfield assist goes horribly wrong. There’s a play at the plate. Eddie fields the liner on one hop, winds up, misses the cutoff man, misses the catcher, misses the entire stadium, sails the ball into traffic, hits a city bus, sends the bus into a transformer, causes a chain reaction power outage that exposes dire flaws in the Atlanta electrical grid, sends entire region into chaos and vandalism, Atlanta reverts to subsistence farming and bartering with a collection of feudal lords clashing over control of the humid land. Dodgers advance due to forfeit.
• A crucial plate appearance goes sideways. A mighty swing and there it goes, a walk-off HR! But no. The bat has also flown out of Eddie’s hands. It connects a second time with the ball in flight, sending it into the waiting talons of a migratory bird. The bird carries it for miles before dropping it over Tropicana Field in Tampa, Florida. It falls through a hole in the roof and hits the catwalk in foul territory. Foul ball. Eddie strikes out on the next pitch, ending the rally and Atlanta’s season.

That said, I’d like to hear your thoughts below. How do these playoffs end for Eddie Rosario? Does he quit in the middle of a game to become an HVAC repair tech? Wear a Hawaiian shirt to the plate? Hide all of Atlanta’s bats and gloves before the game because he “just loves pranks.” It’s the only interesting thing left in this postseason, and I can’t wait to find out.

Just wondering, since this is the 4th article with Eddie Rosario if this is a Twins site or Braves site.? If he would be striking out on almost every at bat on pitches over his head, my guess there wouldn't be even one article about him.

He could have made the Twins better this year, or then again maybe not? That’s the wonder of Eddie, you just never know. The only thing for sure was that he was often entertaining and aggravating on the same day!

I am delighted - Eddie Rosario has taken over the playoff and Twins Daily.  Its the off season and our former Twin is the talk of the league, Eddie on MLB.com,  and Twins Daily.  He is so hot we missed the perfect two innings by Graterol on mlb.com.  and Ryan Pressly finishing two games for Houston.  Only Ehire 0-7 looks like a Twin in the Post Season, but he is there, Jake Odorizzi has pitched like a Twin in the playoffs with a 9.00 era.  Jason Castro drove in the winning run in one game for the Astros and is 2 for 4 with a HR.  Boston is trailing in the series because they have Martin Perez doing his Twins thing with a 12 era and Danny Santana 0-2.

The Twins fan is never at a loss in the playoffs (only the Twins are).  And the teams with the fewest ex-Twins are the ones that are behind at this stage.

And in answer to the question - how will it end?  With Eddie holding the WS trophy.

Atlanta trails L.A. in Game 7 by four runs. Bottom of seventh, one out, nobody on, Atlanta needs a rally.

Suddenly, a streaker runs onto field, delaying the game. The game is halted for... wait, the streaker is Eddie Rosario! The athletic Rosario, dressed only in socks and cleats, runs into the outfield to the stadium sound of Oooooh, neither a boo nor a cheer. Rosario eludes security easily, running here and there in the outfield to do calisthenics, fake dramatic slow-motion home run swings, and short sprints away from the stadium personnel when necessary. Contrary to policy, the network broadcasts the whole thing live on television. Finally, after 14 minutes, Rosario sprints to the fence. He climbs over and disappears through the service tunnel.

After some headshaking and regrouping, the game resumes. Atlanta rallies. Rosario’s replacement contributes with an RBI double and run scored. Atlanta comes back to win Game 7 to go on to the 2021 World Series. Rosario is named MVP of the NLCS in absentia.

Who cares?  I think this has been the highlight of our season.  Which Twins players should be discussing?  All the ones that mattered to me are gone or on their way out.  Except for Buxton, Polanco and Kepler many of our players did not play the majority of the season and I would not know them if I were sitting next to them. If you love baseball this is the kind of story we love.

No way to know how things will end with Eddie but if the tiger doesn't change his stripes then I have to believe it ends with a massive Eddie mistake at some point and slump to follow.  I wish him nothing but the best but I think his flaws are his flaws and strengths are his strengths.  The past two years he hasn't been that good so it seems like the shooting star that he is, is likely to fade out at any point now.  Hopefully he keeps his hot streak going through the WS.

What a wasted article....though funny. Eddie is just like every other hitter. He is on a great streak right now and will cool off- maybe even in the next 2 games- but has helped to get the Braves this far so feel good for him. We wouldn't have done much better had we kept him so nobody should feel bad for us giving him up. I like Eddie compared to some of what we have had but we didn't have the money to pay him.

I would have to beg to differ on a couple of counts.  Eddie led the Twins in RBI's in '19 and '20.  He had 46 in 78 games for Cleveland, even with some injuries.  From an offensive production standpoint, how does that compare to our revolving door in left field this year (and who knows how much longer)?  As for defense, no one we put out there this year was any better there, either.  As for money, we had it, we just didn't want to spend it after losing our shirt in '20, so we took the chance one of our up and comers would win the job and run with it.  Same theory as signing Shoe and Happ; cheaper than upper level pitching and hoping for come back years.  Not tendering Eddie was a financial move to be sure, but not a very good one.  Even in a semi off year and moving around, he still had a positive WAR in both places.  The 8 mil would have been worth it.  The hole that is there now is a self induced wound.

You do realize that not everything on the internet is written as serious journalism.  I think there are many people that need to lose the weigh they have gained because now their underwear is too tight.

Ain't it the truth! Hard to hear Braves fans chanting "Ed-die, Ed-die", though.

But it WAS exciting. He is a likeable, entertaining, and talented (when focused) baseball player.

I will say all metrics point to this is right decision but there are other factors what he brings to club house and the team and yes he could be utterly bad but one thing he had was consistently contributed rbi's for the team. He is emotional player and when things are going well the highs are high and on flip when things are going bad the lows are awful. Now changing the subject a little expect we will experience this again in the future with Buxton because were coming to parting of the ways but here were going to see a player if he's playing daily for team is going to transform a team with his play. Yes he has been hurt a lot but i have feeling once leaves us this isn't going to happen. Like Eddy liking warm weather if he goes to warmer place his injuries may disappear and become the player we thought he would. Here's a thought we may like our out door baseball but what impact does it have on our players with nagging injuries from early season and there production for the whole season. Also how does impact our signing pitching long term here because of playing in colder weather for part of the season. Write it off but maybe your analytics could do some research on this because we like 3 months of outdoor baseball but we forgot there are six months of baseball plus the post season.

We think of the $$,$$$,$$$.00 that will be required to keep Buxton.  He is going to get it from someone maybe the Twins will make an offer but I don't think this is the team he wants to spend the prime of his career on.  Messing with his playing time probably didn't do the Twins organization any favors. 

Eddie said that going to the WS is what they dream of as a kid.  Not all will make WS but being a contender for a WS title is something that probably won't happen for Buxton if he stays here.  He is going to get a pay day and it will probably be with a super power team.  

Even Berrio's while he didn't get to the play-offs got to pitch in a very important game and that is what the want as much or more than just the money.  

Sadly the Twin's can keep or attract the talent needed to go all the way.  At least not that I can see in the near future.  Berrios is a key example.  He is the pitcher we hoped for an wanted for a long time.  We just got to start to see his talent and they let him go.  Yes they got some prospects but that is what we always get.  That and older veterans hoping for one more chance.  We got that in Cruz and what happens? They let him go.  Others may see a brighter light but I don't think they do well with the prospects because most come here either injured or just not that good.
