Romero has good stuff, anybody can see that. But what will make him stalwart for years to come, is his POISE.

He was not intimidated one bit today, this guy is as advertised, somebody in the rotation is going to the pen or DFA in the very near future!

I missed the game. But from game reports, he was as you stated he was. All reports also indicate he has the stuff. And while I expect hiccups here and there, I sure hope the Twins will stick with him and keep giving him opportunities, even if it ends up meaning a shuttle back to Rochester before a ride back up again.

Ditto for Gonsalves who will get his shot at some time as well.

I was surprised to hear that he ahs only had one 100-pitch outing in his career. He reached 150 innings last year, so hopefully can stretch that total a bit this season, if push comes to shove.

Would we like to see him work out of the bullpen if the rotation gets too crowded and an opening happens, or does he go back to AAA and continue to be a work-in-progress.

Only time will tell. Considering Santana and Lynn will be free agents, as well Gibson. If Romero produces, I would rather go forth with him as much as possible.

I really liked what I saw from Romero, but he needs to get ahead in the count more often to have consistent success. He reminded me of Berrios in 2016, he obviously has great stuff, but needs trust it and throw strikes. Berrios also struggled a bit with being aggressive early in the count when he first came up.

I think for the most part from what i saw he pounded the strike zone early and often but his off speed stuff could still use some polish but for a 23 year old with very limited experience in AAA I think he did pretty well.  Some of what we saw last night could have been nerves (whether he showed it or not) but well know more when he makes his next start.

The proof that he was a little charged up is that in the second inning his 'change-up' was clocked at 91 MPH. That suggests he could relax a little more.

With time, I'm sure he will.

OMG, I just had a quick glance at the headlines on the sidebar-

I thought it said "Romero to be Sold..."

My blood pressure.....   my heart.......  arrrrrrgh....!

Oh, come on.  He clearly needs to go back to Chattanooga for a spell and then go up and down from Rochester to MN.   He is only 23 so 6 more years of minor league success won't hurt him.
