Original post from North Dakota Twins Fan ~~~~~~~~~~ The MLB Draft takes place next week and the Twins hope to be able to take some difference makers with the five picks they have in the first couple of rounds. With the number two pick, the Twins should be getting a player that will jump straight into the top 5 of the list below. It's great to see where the organization is sitting before they enter the draft. A team's future is decided by the players they select in the draft and a team can be
Original post from North Dakota Twins Fan In preparation for next week's MLB First Year Player Draft, I have put together some short draft capsules to look at the prospects the Twins have taken with their early round picks in recent memory. In the coming days, I will release these list with some short profiles on what the players have done since joining the organization. Selecting the right players in the draft can separate a winning club from a losing club so it is important to know what the T

I like the "M" logo and all (even though I still prefer the "TC" logo), but I do worry about unilateral
Due to the length of last night's game, I did not get home until past midnight and was unable to do the day-by-day, so here is the 2 day edition Hitter of the Day(s): Chris Parmelee - 1B - ROC - AAA (Last 2 Days): 5-7 2 HR (3), 2B (2), 7 RBI, 4 R, 2 BB Pitcher of the Day: Francisco Liriano: 6 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 9 SO. After an underwhelming performance in the bullpen, Liriano shocks everyone and puts up a 2010-esque game with some dominant stuff. Was it a flash in the pan? Was it the p
The June 4, 2012 edition of Sports Illustrated had a story by Tom Verducci where he attempts to document... well, he's a better writer than I'll ever be, so let's let him tell you... “This is a story about the real cost of steroids in baseball -- not the broken records, not the litigation, not the talk-show drone about the elite players who juiced and how to weigh their Hall of Fame candidacy. This is a story about the hundreds, even thousands, of anonymous ballplayers whose careers and lives
Originally published at The Tenth Inning Stretch ---- With the Twins having a severe need for pitching in the organization as well as six picks among the top 100, it is certain that more than one of those picks (and probably the second overall pick) will be used to draft a pitcher. To this respect, I am presenting profiles of the top 22 pitching prospects for the 2012 MLB draft. I will be presenting these alphabetically, and at the end I will rank them. I will be doing about one a day a

Every year I look at the Twins and say, "they have potential." I don't believe that I'm alone in this either. This season I felt that Pavano could potentially be a workhorse with an era around 3.90 and play the part of a veteran leader. Baker would finally be over his arm issues and be somewhat of an ace. Liriano would lighten up and dominate again. Blackburn would be able to be average and hold down a spot in the rotation. Hendriks would win a job over marquis and look rather steady in the rot
Less than a week ago, the thought of pitching at Target Field had to be far from the mind of Cole DeVries. But on Tuesday evening, DeVries found himself making his home debut in front of a crowd full of family and friends. It can be nerve racking to pitch in front of the home crowd for the first time and it had to be even harder for the Minnesota native to be throwing so close to where he grew up. Throughout the contest, DeVries worked himself into some jams by walking batters but he always s

In fact, I'm not sure that "depth" is the correct word. There's Joe Mauer. And then there's a pretty big drop off. Ryan Doum
Jose Rodriguez was the Twins Daily short-season minor-league hitter of the year. He is at the Dominican facilities for spring training now but will likely join Extended Spring Training in Fort Myers.
I really hold back what I would like to say about then payroll arguments here. The fact that people don't accept the amount taken in dictates the amount going out requires one of two things. Extreme financial ignorance or fanatical bias that prevents the acceptance of something some basic. I did not change the argument. It's the same idiocy over and over. Do you really want to be on the side that suggests revenues does not determine spending capacity?
