  1. Unless the thinking of the voters for gold gloves has changed, Castro has no chance. They have historically been awarded to good offensive players who are decent on defense.
  2. It's still more pitches than he has thrown as a Twin and highest total at MLB level since June. Not that you were specifically criticising a possible move.
  3. idk, Fullmer has struggled throwing strikes at the MLB level. Like to think he is extremely beatable. Rodon will be tough, especially with no Sano. Have to think Vargas starts against him. He has a HR against Rodon. Have to like Twins chances rest of the series. Another rookie with control issues Tuesday and then struggling James Shields vs Ervin in the finale.
  4. Sano may or may not have been going top speed. But he was out by 30-40 feet. That's at least 5 seconds at his speed. He had no chance to score barring a poor throw. And Polanco was due up. He's the hottest Twins hitter not named Eddie right now.
  5. Glynn must have thought Buxton was running? That wasn't the greatest effort, but Sano had no chance IMO.
  6. FWIW, Chris Gimenez is about 60 innings shy of his MLB career high. That's only 7 more starts. Jason Castro needs about 250 to establish a career high. That likely won't happen. He is about 170 innings away from his second highest total. That he should get easily. I guess the relevance is that both of these guys are playing considerably more than they are used to. So, it really isn't surprising that their offense has been non-existent the last month or so. Not that it was substantial before that. Neither has homered in two months.
  7. Wonder if Jake Lamb is any relation to Mike. Still remember Terry Ryan when asked why Lamb was signed to a two year deal (he was released late into a forgettable year one). "He wouldn't take a one year contract".
  8. I wonder if Garver has ever faced Godley in the minors. Probably not this year as they were in different leagues. But possibly at some point. I sure would rather see what he can do than Eduardo Escobar. He had a nice hot streak, but it is long over. He has a .523 OPS in August. Pretty sure Falvine didn't bring Garver up to sit on the bench.
  9. This exactly. The combination of moves made no sense. If you are trying to squeeze outs, you stick with Busenitz. He's already thrown enough pitches that he isn't going to be available the next day anyway. If you are playing matchups, you have to pull Boshers with Jackson batting, particularly after faiing to get the lefties out.
  10. If I am not mistaken, Lou Gerhig maintained his streak this way at least once. I'm pretty sure he led off and started a game at shortstop on the road once. Of course, he never actually played shortstop. He was removed after his at bat. He had a bad back or something. I think I read about it in Olbermann and Patrick's book.
  11. You are the one who posted the number. Perhaps try stating what your number represents?
  12. Exactly. Not a sutuation in which Boshers should be facing a RHB.
  13. Is that a season number for Boshers? Because I don't happen to believe a two run game with two on in the 7th is low leverage.
  14. Fine. Tom Kelly, and about 1000 other guys that have figured out that a guy that can't get RHB out shouldn't be facing them in leverage situations. The list of guys that have figured this out is a lot longer than the list of those who have not. PS: Do not tell me what to do.
  15. The flaw in that logic is that Boshers shouldn't be facing a RHB in a close game anyway. Someone else should be preparing to face Jackson. Either that inning or in the next. So, that pitcher you have warming eventually will be brought in. Managers that are good managing bullpens figure this stuff out without much trouble.
  16. Molitor wasn't trying to steal an extra out. He brought in Boshers to get one out. Specifically, one lefty. The bottom line is that Molitor either should have let Busenitz finish the inning if he felt the game was already unwinnable or he should not have allowed Boshers to face Jackson if he felt the game was winnable. Either way, it was a bad decision.
  17. Isn't it Molitor's job to make sure someone is ready if that scenario plays out?
  18. O'Rourke was one of the most effective loogys in MLB last year. LHB were 2 for 26 against him last year.
