  1. Rocco Baldelli is a ballplayer drafted out of highschool. He did not go to college. He learned how to read spreadsheets while standing on grass, lol.
  2. Carlos Correa injured his ankle almost 10 years ago. It has been healthy since. Someone decided they don't want to risk $350m on it. Now not only does he have to answer questions about how it feels to miss out on $150m, he has to constantly hear about his "problem" ankle. He does handle it well.
  3. Here are Donnie Barrel's platoon splits vs leftys since he became a regular and broke out. 2019: .339 .382 .461 .843 2020: .350 .381 .483 .864 2021: .301. 344 .478 .822 2022: .301 .348 .422 .770. Not too shabby and a more traditional leadoff type hitter than, say, Buxton. Buxton is now more of a power hitter type that I would prefer further down the lineup.
  4. I'm guessing it has something to do with a relationship between the front offices.
  5. In my quick "analysis" I looked at 2 simple stats, playoff record and team era. The Twins suffered in comparison in my opinion. I wasn't going any deeper, but I agree with you that the Brewers have also had much better sustained success. You are also right that the Brewers had a great run and almost took out the free spending Dodgers, quite a great season. On your last point maybe I'm missing something here. They went to the playoffs in 18, 19, 20 and 21 and it adds up to 4-10 as far as I can tell.
  6. You said "So, anyone interested in knowing whether Falvey is the guy to build a pitching pipeline in Minnesota can compare the job Stearns has done in Milwaukee with the job Falvey has done here, over the past 6-7 years." So I did exactly as you suggested and looked at the Brewer's recent track record. Whaddya think? Did I do a good job, lol?
  7. 4-10 in the playoffs for the Brew Crew since 2016. 3 years with the NL's top 5 ERA. That's my quick analysis. I know it's not dreaming on the mountaintop, but that is FOUR FREAKING PLAYOFF WINS!!!! Falvey better giddy the ef up!
  8. My thoughts exactly! That dog has been nothing but treated with the upmost respect, lol.
  9. I get my baseball knowledge and in particular Twins knowledge from many sources. Here, the Strib, the Athletic for print and all good (the Strib is propped up by Phil Miller. And listening to Gleeman and the Geek (the best), Locked on Twins (some good stuff wrapped in an annoying package the "Locked On" format), Daily Delivery and yes Souhan's Chin Music with Souhan, Roy Smalley and LEN111. Listening to Chin Music yesterday I was once again struck by how little actual detailed info these three had. Add Reusse into that mix. Reusse just picks a few people to call tare-bull and yammers on looking for shock value. I don't think I spend too much of my time with this, my wife may argue that, but aren't these guys professionals? Maybe back in the day when the average fan had little access to data they could get away with it. Were we all misinformed then, lol? Listening to an esteemed baseball man like Smalley go on about Duran's slider I'm shaking my head yelling "it's a freaking curve ball" at my windshield. Lol. Edit: Oops and last, but certainly not least, Mr Froemming!
  10. And to add to this^^^ For all the criticism the Twins management gets they were dialed in on how to use Rogers. That adept usage maximized Taylor's value.
  11. If a guy, like Ober, is expected to be the next man up in the rotation, then he needs to be in St Paul working as a starter. Jacking these guys around like they did to Dobber a couple of year ago doesn't work. Now late in the year is a good time to work young starters into the pen for the stretch run. They can go back to being starters the next year.
  12. I agree Mr Mod! People seem to sleep on Larnach, but the guy has a nice bat. He's pretty good in the outfield too. Gallo however is top notch and keeping him there would be best.
  13. After all this discussion of aces and innings pitched there is not one mention of how teams have their starters throw harder and with more effort than in the past. The days of starting pitchers pacing themselves for a deep run into the game are over. Players weren't tougher or more determined in the past. The expectations of how to go about their jobs is what has changed. Sure in any era you can find exceptions, but I venture this is the number one reason why pitchers don't go as long. The Twins and Rocco aren't doing anything the rest of the league isn't doing.
  14. For a couple of reasons they should keep Ober on the starter's path. He has been successful when healthy. He has improved in-season and improved against teams when facing them again. He seems to have the pitch mix to not struggle putting guys away to be versatile in his attack plans. His injuries haven't been shoulder or elbow related, correct?
  15. I want to add something not mentioned. He was interviewed shortly after becoming a reliever on how it suited him. Paraphrasing here, he said he liked the role and adrenaline. He said he also liked feeling good instead of walking around sore all the time like he was as a starter. I know I read this somewhere, I did not make it up. It seems like a pretty important factor, so I'm surprised I've never seen it mentioned again. I'm sure Duran's agent has hammered at him how much more he could make starting.
  16. I'd probably leave him in the fireman role. Closer, wait do they still use that term? Lol. Heart of the order, high leverage is where it's at today, son. It is tempting to think of him as a starter, but when he was he pitched short outings. I'm not sure he be the same impact player as a starter.
  17. My two cents is to ditch any security or protection software. All it does is slow down your computer. Run completely unprotected, allow cookies, only go to reputable sites and dump your cookies often. That's worked for me since I briefly tried McCaffey back in '98, lol. There is nothing to fear.
  18. Out of the blue Buxton could have a run of very healthy years. Or a cronic knee condition could be revealed. Or something in between. Kyle Rudolph was often injured his first few years in the league and getting labeled as injury prone, he then went on a something like 6 year run of iron man production. You just can't know.
  19. Miranda has been working his ass off and will get his shot at 3rd. We don't know how good he will be yet.
