  1. These aren't maybe, maybe not questions. These are yes and yes. No doubt if Sano gets in better shape it would lengthen his career, ceteris parabis. And obviously no matter what he does he's going to be a big guy, but there's a difference between 290 and 250 lbs. Even if that keeps him a little quicker or more agile for a year so he can be a 3rd baseman through age 28 instead of age 26. I like Sano and I know he'll end up at 1B/DH, but no doubt he should be busting his butt every day to be at 3B because his value becomes a lot greater to the Twins.
  2. My thought would still be hope we sign Darvish and wait till the deadline. If we're contenders then ship out some of the farm for a starter or reliever. But if we can get Darvish then let's hope we get to July with a good record then go hunting for a good pitcher. I like this post tho. We have a lot of prospects that could be major leaguers some day and there's won't be room for all of em on our roster. Hope we contend this year and the prospects take another step then move some for a pitcher.
  3. Yes exactly what I was thinking. Even as a starter to begin the year. One year deal would be a great fit. Say we get Darvish and we have Darvish, Santana, Berrios, Liriano, Gibson. Then we can start Mejia in AAA or in the pen. When Liriano struggles a little bit or Mejia lights up AAA move him to the pen.
  4. Kanley, Duffy, Pressley, Busenitz, Rogers, Hildenberger, Rodney This our bullpen when we head Minnesota in late March? Little underwhelming for what everyone was saying they thought they would do. But if Kanley is OK, and guys like Curtis, Jay, Reed, Eades, Moya step up and just one can have the impact Hildy did it'll look a lot better. Also if Pineda joins the pen in September he could maybe be an impact arm. I really hope we're all in on Darvish though...
  5. I'm obviously still assuming we'll sign/trade for another starter this offseason. If we can do that and acquire one reliever I think it's been a good offseason. If we get one of Archer, Stroman, or Cole for a reasonable trade or sign one of the top 4 starters and are able to get kintzler, Rodney, Cishek or a guy like that I'll be happy.
  6. Just a thought I had for a long time. Worth the risk and I'm glad Twins did it!
  7. I'd like to see us maybe get McGee assuming he is not too expensive. I like the three guys above too tho. Also would anyone take a risk on Pineda? Maybe he comes back this year and could help the pen at the end of the year then next year slides in as a starter. I see an injured Smyly got 2 years $10 mil with $6 mil in incentives. I wouldn't mind a similar deal for Pineda and we sign Rodney to a 1 year deal or another guy to a 2 year deal.
  8. I have no idea the cost of it but if the Marlins are just giving away players it would be interesting for the Twins to make Kepler/Rosario available in a trade for a pitcher then use prospects to acquire Ozuna or Yelich. Not saying I would do it but in the right scenario if we had to give up one of those guys to acquire a top pitcher we could easily turn around and look into what they would cost us.
  9. Great in-depth post here. I love the plan drawn out. As I was reading this I was thinking about how I am expecting the twins will add one pitcher but I am really hoping they're able to add two. One signing and one via trade w/o giving up pitching prospects. Then heading into the year if they have Santana, Berrios, Mejia, Gibson, Romero, Gonsalves, Jorge and two outsider players. Obviously I don't plan on the last three getting a lot of starts, but I feel confident if they need to make a few cuz someone is on the DL.
  10. How much would it costs us to get Nick Saban, Coach K, John Calipari, and Urban Meyer to help us recruit him??
  11. I love a good post about trades. And I like the trades for pitching. Most of those I would probably do if the other teams would take. I would look into trading for a package of Gerrit Cole and Felipe Rivero. 2 years of Cole and 4 years of Rivero Or a package of Marcus Stroman and Roberto Osuna. 3 years of control of each In return I hope a package of Mejia, Gordon, Romero, Duffey, Stewart/Jorge, Wade/Badoo, Palacios/Miranda, and Jake Reed. Obviously you could do a lot of shuffling with the guys after Mejia Gordon and Romero. Depending on what the teams like you could change just about anything after those guys and add any prospects in our system outside of the top 6-7. I know it'd be a big package but I'd really look into giving up what it takes to get them. I'm not sure if either team is looking to sell yet but we maybe could get Toronto to if they got rid of them then they'd probably trade Donaldson. Pittsburgh may be looking to retool or rebuild so we might need more high upside low level players for a rebuild or might have to throw in a major league player for a retool. That would be tough for me as I really would prefer to not give up any major league position players.
  12. Brining this up makes me I think. I know it's been a year and hicks didn't perform well offensively last year but would people already call this a bad trade? At least hicks will be on the Yankees big league roster. I would rather have hicks right now.
  13. The one thing I hope to see this year is molly trying different lineups based on who's hot and who's pitching. One thing nobody has talked about on this thread because molitor said it's not gonna happen is buxton batting leadoff. I know he doesn't have the ideal on base % and most of his hits are extra base hits I wouldn't mind seeing him batting leadoff. A lot of the doubles he hits would be singles for most players but he turns them into doubles. So if he's leading off games with a double or a single then stealing second and mauer is walking or doing his ground out to second then you got buxton at third with dozier and sano coming to bat. Also I don't mind dozier leading off if he's most comfortable there Vs RH Buxton/Dozier Mauer Dozier/Buxton Sano Kepler Park Castro Polanco Rosario Vs. LH Buxton/Dozier Grossman Dozier/Buxton Sano Kepler Park Polanco Giminez Escobar
  14. I'm really beginning to wonder what will come next year if guys like gonsalves, Romero, jay, Stewart, and Jorge are all ready for the majors. We will need rotation spots for berrios and may. Hughes, Santana, and Gibson will probably still be around, unless possibly traded. Also mejia could be in the running for a rotation spot. Pitching depth is good so this makes me happy. But it is also a good reason to trade Santana if a good offer comes around. I'm excited to see what comes of all of this and who stays and who goes, who produces and who fails to make. Hopefully all these guys succeed and for once we have too much pitching!
