  1. This may be a dumb analogy/story. I was at a Tigers game @2015 (I may be wrong on year, but not spending time to figure out) Memorial Day weekend and got to Detroit with only shirts and t shirts. temp at game time was in low 40s. Freezing and Twins losing badly we only stayed because Annibel Sanchez had a no-hitter going. Top of 9 one out Mauer comes up. I'm wearing my 'Mauer to the people' shirt (thanks to whomever made that) I"m cheering for a no-hitter because I'll never see one in person probably again. Sanchez throws a strike and I can't believe he's pitching to Mauer. I announce this to the Tiger fans around me. "Don't do this" 2 pitches later Mauer does prototypical in/out swing and deposits ball in shallow left field for a single. Long story short, Mauer was a bad, bad man. Sorry for meandering story, but that moment stuck with me.
  2. don't know if the author of this piece was doing voice to text, but a lot of this was...confusing to read. Not meaning to offend, but let's see some more effort. I shouldn't read a recap and come away confused. Maybe I'm dumb.
  3. Pagan, be gone (Hawk Harrelson voice) Dude does not have it.
  4. BA may not be the end all be all, but putting a ball in play makes the defense have to react and we have benefitted from bad opponent defense. Striking out does no good. I agree with OP that baseball with contact is more fun to watch
  5. Wednesday's game was broadcast by Youtube. It was my first time seeing this. I really liked it. I thought the between half inning nat sound/cutting to shots of the dugouts was cool. Pena was o.k. and assume will get better. Graphics were nice. I was impressed. What think you guys and gals?
  6. What sucks is if the is 2021 redux. Out of contention by mid-May. If that's the case bring up the youths. Gotta shake something up, because 2 years of this signifies a problem. That starting pitching is not going to last.
  7. Interesting take, and I agree. I'm not worried about the lineup. More interested in SP and RP
  8. There are a lot of posters over the last few days who need to be held accountable for their comments on front office/ownership and admit they were wrong. The Twins have not been as 'Twinny' the last 3 or so years. I hope this works out '
  9. Thanks for these Nick, as mentioned above, they're good snapshots of the team in a season which work/life/bad team had me watching a lot less. Color me weird, but I'm optimistic about next BEFORE any Hotstove moves have happened. I believe we will get expensive starting pitching help. I believe in our bullpen albeit a piece or 2. I'm happy with our position players if Kepler can get on track and we get a SS. Luckily our holes to fill (top of line SP, Shutdown Closer, and SS are easy to fill....Go Twins)
  10. Jorge was going home from first the second the ball was struck. Love it.
  11. Uggh. This makes me so optimistic for next year with nothing concrete to point to. I do think we did really well with our trades, but we need to start producing something more than corner outfield lefty hitters. There are a lot more player types, and we need a few of them. As mentioned above, Kepler's energy was a good sign coupled with Polanco having another good day
  12. Excellent points, Jorgenswest. ALL High School draft picks are crap shoots, but picking kids with great natural talent and flexibility make for good choices. I like Petty's effortless motion. Always have to hold breath on hard throwers' arm issues, but he looks good. Cue Tom Petty's 'The Waiting'
  13. Lighten up. We've been to the playoffs the 2 years he's been here. Granted, we're not going this year, but I'd rather have a team that has post season potential more often than not. Baldelli deserves heat, but he should not be fired for what a mess the bullpen has been and the injuries that are head shaking and the aging of Donaldson and Cruz and the lack of pitch recognition of Sano and the number of rookies forced into playing ahead of schedule and having played 7DIFFERENT guys in CF (has to be a record 65 games into a season) Baldelli is doing the best he can with the cards he's dealt. Has he made some bad decisions? Yes. Calling for his head the first year we finish below .500 is a bit knee jerky. And not to be to 'homery' we'll clear .500. Or lose 110
  14. Thanks for the article. Donaldson is not a plus. He'll be on IL soon, and next year will be a mess. Include Sano. We'll be better soon, but this should have been a playoff year. No question about it. If we finish 10 games behind White Sox this year We'll be 15 next year. They are missing best 2 players and still have a pitching pipeline. Gordon is depth, not the future. Sorry for being a Debbie Downer, but I'm a fan and no matter how optimistic I'll be in February I want to use this as bounce board to remind myself what a fail 2021 is
  15. The team should be pro-active in making the medical move. Never leave it up to the player. I salute effort, don't salute hurting your teamates while playing below 75% capacity
  16. Now I feel better. Went to a friend's house last night to cook out (Cubs Fan) and he offered to put the Twins game on. Told him not to bother. Best call I made all week.
  17. Best comment ever. I like Pineda, but I'm sure there are analytic wonks that know better than me.
  18. I hate to quibble. We'll be 6-7. And yes, I've jumped ship
  19. Let's not trade Buxton. We wouldn't get maximum for him. Otherwise, spot on
  20. Larnach and Kirillof not a lot of...energy when talking to media. Maybe it's good they save it for the field
  21. Ugggh. This is not the article I wanted to read. My quick 2 cents...Love Donaldson's arm. I never hold my breath on a throw that might be tight, but he's made a couple throws that were 'easy' that cost the team. He was meh overall last year for his value and so far has been meh this year. I know he has a negative xBA, but he just doesn't seem to make consistent solid contact (new band name). I hope he comes through and this is the year we're paying him for. The next two may be sunken cost if the current performance continues. Come on Josh, let's not make this a sucky contract
  22. Exactly what I was thinking last night during the game.
  23. Don't forget Buxton and hold breath on day-to-day Arraez
