    I don't think any of these players would really be blocking up and coming stud players. They're all productive proven major leaguers that we could get for relatively cheap and help right away in 2019. I especially like the idea of Cruz with his big right handed bat mashing homers into the left field porch.

    Considering Gordon has struggled pretty bad a AAA, I'd be in favor of re-signing Forsythe to a 1 year, place holder type of deal. 2nd basement market looks pretty strong, but if the twins envision Gordon, or other internal options as the long play, makes sense to re-sign Forsythe. Especially since he'd be pretty cheap option you'd think, considering his down years with LA.

    I think, considering the Twins have pieces in place to be a contender but just about everything that can go gone wrong has in 2018, that they should hold on to Gibson and Escobar. These guys should be in their future plans and can help a turn around next year. everyone else on the list agree trade 'em.

    So baffled why people wanted to give up on him. So much talent, and only 23...now look! Baseball is hard. it takes time to make things click. props to the Twins this season for sticking with him even when he started in that massive slump. now they're reaping the benefits

    I can see the argument to be made for Wright. Seems like he'll be a good pitcher. Not a McKay guy. his floor seems the highest, but his ceiling the lowest. When you have the first overall pick, you don't take a safe guy. Go big or go home Twins, pick the kid with highest ceiling and take Greene please!

    Great read, well done. im also perplexed by this musical chairs of scrap heap old dude's instead of bringing up these promising young guys we've a lot about. At least Berrois is finally back!

    Totally agree. Considering that Erv isn't a blue chip Ace say a la when David Price was traded a few years ago, I just don't think even with his great performance, that a team is going to give us massive "cant turn down" package of elite prospects. Also considering the Twins have been SO starved for not just an ace, just competent starting pitching, and a affordable 2 years left on his deal, hes a good guy to built around. If the Twins go in the tank and some team gets desperate and offers an amazing deal is the only scenario Id be cool with trading him.

    Its refreshing we finally have some depth at SS its been a black hole for so long. On one hand, I like the stability of Polanco playing there more than 1 season, and I really like his game. On the other hand, Gordon is on fire, and might push the issue. If twins start to fade (which they most likely will), I think best case scenario is trading Dozier for some pitching and pairing Polonco and Gordon. Vielma strikes me more as a utility infielder if he cant hit.

    I think keeping him in the pen is the best option. sure, maybe they give him another go at being a starter...but I think this back and forth back and forth can wear on a guy. See May, Trevor for an example. Duffy was an outstanding college reliever and his 1-2 pitch combo is much more contusive to being a reliever. Twins seem to have found something that works, don't mess it up now!

    wow this is so disappointing IMO. You don't pick a guy #6 overall in the draft to be a reliever. He was suppose to be a starter, you draft a guy that high to be a front end starter. I get the arguments, he was in the bullpen in college, he's more comfortable there yada yada. He now joins a long list of "hard throwing young bullpen arms" that have been talked about what seems like years and the only guy to make to the bigs is JT Chargios. This organization's ineptitude to develop talent, and specifically starting pitching talent, is baffling.

    I would keep all of these guys. Agree with the article-Escobar even if delegated to bench role again could be invaluable if an injury occurs or playing 3B should Sano flounder again. Kitzner was solid, I am fine bringing him back for middle relief, not closer. Pressly showed flashes of brilliance, and can actually strike people out. easy call on him. Gison and Saniago while both were up and down and frustrating all season are no brainers in my opinion. Their salaries aren't huge, they have both been solid in years past, and even if new front office makes a trade/signs someone, worst case they are depth starters. and lets be honest we are in no position to start getting rid of starters with even OK track records. rotation needs every little help it can get.

    De Leon and Puig would excite me. Obviously Urias would make me giddy, but sounding like hes untouchable. A top 50 pitching prospect for Dozier would be perfect. I think it'd be awesome if we could get Puig in there. Hes so talented...and twins are in a perfect situation to take a shot on him. Less stress in a smaller market, cant get into much trouble as in LA. He is type of "high upside failed prospect" that the cubs took chances on in prior years. Make it happen!

    Have to agree with you-the only thing the Twins cant do that the Cubs have is sign a guy like Lester to a big contract. The rest of their starters are signed to reasonable deals or acquired via trade. I hope that Favley can follow the Indians blue print, where their pitching came from many different areas (international signings, trades, drafting) my bigger concern with the twins is if the entire minor league and developmental staff stays in tact. Both the Indians and cubs have built their world series squads primarily by developing the guys they acquire. I don't have much faith in the Twins developing talent. Lets also hope Favley reverses the trend of hanging onto players for loo long. Both Epstien and Indians guy Shapiro traded veterans for guys now contributing to their world series team.

    Would be totally ok if we give Polanco a run at SS and have him hold it down until Gordon is ready. We know Polanco's bat will stick and his defense is sketchy but who knows? Maybe he plays ok and by the time Gordon comes up we could have Polanco swing to 2nd base (assuming Dozer is traded) and have them as the double play duo!

    Good read. I think all these options are plausible. Regarding the FA's Feliz would be a great stop gap closer with some upside, I think JT is destined for the job but agree might be much to hand it too him out of spring training. Id also be fine with Tonkin, assuming he pitches well in Spring Training. He dominated AAA as a closer and think he was severely mismanaged being the "long relief" guy pitching 2-3 innings clearly burned him out towards the end of the season. Kitzler should not be the closer, he did an ok job filling in and I'm ok bringing him back as a middle reliever but he's a sinker baller who does not strike many people out, we're seeing in the post season elite relievers with strikeout abilities are critical to success.
