  1. Every single team rely's on "health bets". They replaced their head trainer, they brought in MLB level back ups. What is the alternative?
  2. iF JoOLiaN iS NOt In ThE MAjoOrS tHen twInS dEesErve tO L0Se!!!
  3. UH OH!!! Kepler is optimistic too https://theathletic.com/4255449/2023/02/27/max-kepler-twins-mlb-shift-rule/ What are these two guys thinking being so optimistic in spring training. "Kepler is optimistic. Not only is he upbeat about the rules change, but he’s also added a new strategy, though he’s reluctant to reveal it."
  4. I mean, doesn't he HAVE to be optimistic? Living life with the glass half empty sounds terrible.
  5. I think most would like to see AK have the job...but I dont think you can realistically count on him after all the injuries. Is Gurriel exciting at this point? Not really...but if AK cant make it work, its better to find your first baseman now rather than after the season starts.
  6. This trade reminds me of something the FO said early in their tenure...don't get too attached the players. You may not agree with their moves, but they certainly aren't afraid to mix it up. While we do not have a clear #1, this starting staff, at least on paper, is as deep as its ever been.
  7. Love this trade. Arraez is a great hitter but adding to the pitching depth + two well rated prospects feels like a bit of steal.
  8. I like this FO...but this signing is bad.
  9. There seems to be a fundamental misunderstanding about how this organization is built and operates. The Pohlad's look at this franchise as just one aspect of their many holdings. Of course they want to win championships, but championships aren't the goal. Increasing the teams long term value is the only goal. The value of an MLB franchise will continue to grow, year over year no matter the product on the field. That said, if the product on the field is decent and the team is in contention for much of the year, year in and year out, then the goal is not only being met, but is being accelerated with additional ticket sales/revenue. Whether you like Falvine and Rocco doesn't really matter. The Pohlads have shown tremendous patience within the organization with regards to front office personel and there is zero chance the front office is on any kind of hot seat. Not this year, not next year and probably not the year after that. Analytics have taken over the game and modern managers are managing the game and lineups for statistical probabilities. You can complain about Rocco all you want, but he's just doing what the numbers are telling him to do. The only way he gets fired is if he goes against those orders...which is highly unlikely.
  10. For somebody that can't crack 90mph he had a terrible attitude. Was time to cut and run.
  11. Generally speaking, spring performance doesn't matter as the sample size is too small....especially a shortened one such as this. With analytics regime in place, the FO already knew what their roster was going to look like on opening day barring trades or injuries.
  12. IF JD is healthy and Miranda rakes the first part of the summer, then trade him for pitching. That's a big IF though. JD's calf is half dead at this point, so he probably misses a fair amount of time which will give Miranda plenty of ab's. If he rakes in his debut...trade him for pitching.
  13. I think it's worth noting that while Keith Law is the most well regarded name that people turn to, it's somewhat impossible for him to have his finger on the pulse. He has 30 teams to cover and roughly 600+ prospects to keep tabs on. When it comes to the Twins, i'd place WAY more faith in the staff here and their opinions/rankings over what Keith Law or some other national scribe thinks.
  14. Another day, another 0-fer for Cavaco. A number 1 pick should at least be able to make contact in the GCL league. I like what Falvine has done overall but this one is definitely not looking good.
  15. I can see inside Target field from my office and I don't see much happening. I bet Falvine didn't even come in today. Should probably fire them both.
  16. Great teams win pennants but good teams can win the world series. The point is that the playoffs will always be a crapshoot. Your odds of winning it all increase greatly if your in the mix year after year. A mid market team like the twins cannot and should not go all in on a particular year. There are positions of strength they can and will deal from but at a certain point, the cost is just not worth it for some of the names that are available. This FO has a short reputation of making prudent moves and I would think that will continue to remain true through this deadline. That said, I'd certainly like to see them fortify the relief corp. Greinke and a reliever or two would be a good get and wouldn't kill the bottom line.
  17. I would bet that will be the last time Royce does push ups at 2nd base. I have no problem with it tbh. Bat flips, watching your home run...fine by me. Push ups at 2nd base? Thats a bit much.
