Potential Trade Packages for José Berríos
thegambler replied to Matthew Lenz's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Berrios is already a front line starter, and any team who can get him for $15 million for two years is getting a steal. You people are fukking blind. You just can't see it because the Twins suck ass. If Berrios had a 3.75 ETA and 400 strikeouts in two years for the Yankees, he'd have at least 30 wins of not more, and you'd think he was a God. Stop critiquing players based on how ****tty their squads are. -
Front Page: Minnesota’s Top Regression Candidates
thegambler replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
"I believe Arraez will NOT have a large regression." Agree 100%. I could tell that this guy was going to be special after being with the club for a few games. I don't think he will regress at all. If anything, he's going to develop more power, and become a .300 hitting RBI machine.- 26 replies

Rosario leads the majors in HRs hit on pitches located outside of the strike zone, for the past two years, and his strikeout ratio is very low. The only guy I've seen like that is Vlad Guerrero. Maybe Rosario's average isn't at Guerrero's level, but his ability to hit the ball from various locations in and outside the strike zone is amazing. You can't let a guy like that go.

Article: Twins 2019 Position Analysis: Catcher
thegambler replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If Astudillo is not on the 25 man roster to start the season, I'm going to PUKE. The guy has produced at every level with the bat, and he is starting to get some sneaky power. He absolutely tore up Winter Ball this year. He's not a Gold Glove defender at any position, but he is far from the worst, above average in the field. He could be a starter on a lot of teams. He needs to be on the roster, if winning is more important than options that is.- 67 replies

Article: Don’t Sleep on Jorge Polanco
thegambler replied to Thiéres Rabelo's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The Machado/Harper rumors are just BS, planted by their agents to push other teams into paying more, and quicker. Twins probably put a call in, just to test the waters, now they are "the big mystery team". Sorry, not buying it. Twins need to give Gordon a chance. Very exciting player. Would you take Dee Gordon on your team? Of course you would. Nick Gordon is a splitting image. Give him the shot. -
Bluejays got Matt Shoemaker for 1 year $3.5 million. I would have much rather had him. Could have had Mike Fiers on a two year deal for $7 million/year. Even Garrett Richards went for.$7 million/year for two years. There's still options in free agency as well, like Ervin Santana (not sure why we're giving up on that guy).
-
Oh my GOD! We just wasted $3.5 million on the WORST pitcher in the league. So many better options than this guy bum. I don't know what the Twins are thinking. How many 5th starters can one team possibly employ? Trick question, Perez isn't even good enough to be a 5th starter. He shouldn't be pitching in the league, much less making $3.5 million. The pay structure in MLB is ridiculous.

Article: Official Rule 5 Draft Day Thread
thegambler replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The Twins need to stop watching service time clocks and trying to hoard mid level prospects. You can't build a franchise around mediocre MLB players, while not giving your top organization minor league players any time to play before they are Rule 5 eligible. I'm less concerned about finding the next Johan Santana, as I am giving the next one up. We need to play these guys. Stop wasting money on players like C.J. Cron or Logan Morrison. No reason to spend money on a Quad A players, when you have a surplus sitting in the cupboard.- 58 replies

Article: Building A Super Bullpen
thegambler replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I always thought the Twins should have turned Liriano into a closer, rather than trade him for next to nothing. (Ok, we got Escobar). Liriano's stats first time through a lineup were amazing. When he started to get 2nd or 3rd time through the lineup, he suffered. We missed out.- 53 replies

Article: What Do The Twins See In Tyler Kinley?
thegambler replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Hindsight is 20/20. There were a lot of pitchers who went earlier. It's possible the Twins had their eyes on someone else, didn't get who they wanted, and ended up taking the best guy in the board. Letting Burdi go is a headscratcher though. They could have put him on the DL, and not needed to put him on the 25 man roster. Maybe they felt they using a 40 man roster spot on a DL player was too high risk, for a team ready to win now. Either way, they took the guy who they think can contribute now. Maybe not, but they must either know something about the guys we had, or the guy we are getting, otherwise they wouldn't have done it. -
I don't understand the logic here. We go from losing two promising relievers that we could have put on the 40 man roster, to picking up a guy that we HAVE to put on the 25 man roster. Where is the logic in that?

Article: Twins Sign RHP Michael Pineda
thegambler replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
A large amount of money and higher risk by typical "Twins" standards. However, in the grand scheme of MLB market and money, it's still a modest amount, and modest risk. This move signifies to me that the Twins are willing spend some money, and might spend a little more money soon on a bigger puzzle piece. Keep it up! -

His K rate is going down, walk rate is going up, ERA is going up, still not interested. -
Article: Do The Twins Need A Proven Closer?
thegambler replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Agreed. Kintzler is not your typically closer. He's not the guy I want in the 9th trying to close out the Yankees, in Yankee stadium. As a backup, maybe. The Twins need to add velocity to their bullpen. They have no power arms, is somewhat embarrassing to say the least, especially when you see teams like New York, Chicago, Houston, and others, rolling out power arms. Those guys are out there, there's no reason the Twins can't find them, scout them, or sign them. Kintzler will command too much money for not being a power arm, in my opinion.- 56 replies

Article: Supplementing the Twins: Lance Lynn
thegambler replied to Ted Schwerzler's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Lance Lynn may have led the league in starts, but he hasn't surpassed 200 innings since 2014. That's not good for a team that has a lackluster bullpen. Twins need durability. -
Article: Twins Daily Awards 2017: Most Improved
thegambler replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Before you can win "most improved", I believe that you should have to finish with a good stat line. Buxton's does not look that good. Rosario looks excellent. Rosario significantly cut down his K, increased his BB rate, and was just hands down a better hitter than a year ago. Rosario was most improved. -
Article: Twins Daily Awards 2017: Most Improved
thegambler replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Buxton had a nice streak, but I wouldn't go as far to say "most improved". We already knew he was a good fielder. Until he shakes that "disastrous" start next year, I'm not sold. My vote goes to Rosario, hands down. He changed his approach at the plate, and became an offensive machine. Between Buxton and Rosario, Rosario is the guy everyone should be paying attention to. -

Not sure how you don't Rosario here. Buxton had a nice streak towards the end, but I'm not ready to call him -
Terry Ryan, Bill Smith and Rob Antony get ZERO credit. Why? Two seasons, Aaron Judge and Kohl Stewart. One was drafted before the other, and a reminder of how HORRIBLE this team was managed for years, on old school thinking. I, for one, do not take this loss lightly. For all the high draft picks that we have had, it was expected that the Twins reach this stages ages ago. Late to the party is no excuse for having the wrong dress on. Sorry, but Terry Ryan, Bill Smith and Rob Antony do not get credit. They ran this club into the ground.

Article: Twins Rumor Central: Sunday Edition
thegambler replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Agreed, especially on Vargas. We need to find a way to keep his bat in the lineup. Surprisingly, Vargas plays 1B pretty well. Whether it be 1B or DH, he needs to be in the lineup at get regular at bats. Either that, or trade him to a contender that needs a 1B/DH (New York anyone?), and get some pitching in return.- 67 replies

I think most people are underestimating Dietrich Enns. His numbers are good, and he's 26. Assuming the Twins have him on the 40 man roster, he could be in the Twins rotation sooner than later.

Article: Twins Close To Acquiring LHP Jaime Garcia?
thegambler replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Stop freaking out Twins fans. This is big value. For those who don't understand, typically when the player being traded has "yet to be named", it usually means you're not giving up a top prospect. I too would love to get a guy like Sonny Gray. However, he is being linked to prospects like Derek Fisher in Houston. Sorry Twins fans, pass on that. I'll take Garcia for nothing, any day of the week.
