  1. Without Santana, Santiago is the Twins best veteran starter. We saw him last night. With Santana, Santiago is the Twins second best veteran starter. Its possible that a team could go to the playoffs with a couple rookie starters as your second and third best pitchers but very unlikely. I can't believe that the new Twins management saw this as a playoff year and hope they are not ready to change the game plan because of 50 better than expected games, Pitching is not a strength for the Twins and there have been no injuries since the season started to weaken the game one staff.. To me the real value of Santana this year is to take pressure off the young starters. I believe the plan at the start of the year must have included trading Santana for the right price.
  2. I'd like to see that lineup with Sano at 3rd and Diaz at 1st. Probably 3 years away. Wade looks like he could take playing time away from Buxton. as well as Rosario. His consistent AB's will be hard to keep out of the lineup next year.
  3. It's not unusual for a pitcher coming off major surgery to not throw at top speed early in the spring or a veteran pitcher just working into shape.
  4. Going forward, the Twins need to spend as much time as possible this spring getting him ready to play major league shortstop.
  5. Looks like we really have the potential for a dominating pen in 2018. There SHOULD be a lot of turnover in both the pen (and rotation) this year. I hope management is prepared to allow the growing pains.
  6. So far Rosario and Buxton have made about 270 plate appearances in Triple A and Kepler about 125. I think these players are receiving minor league lessons and development time at the Major league level. If they all start and play over 130 games and receive over 400 plate appearances this year (2017) at the Major league level, maybe by 2018 we will be able to see what kind of players they really are. Hopefully better development plans are being put in place for the teams future pitching pieces.
  7. Alex Meyer was traded to the Angels. Baseball America lists him as their #3 prospect. Probably don't want to trade Dozier there.
