  1. I'd rather we do what Tampa does to develop a program like they have, but that's not the topic of discussion!
  2. Why ya gotta go burst Ethan's bubble like that? Just because we can't be happy about how things are going, doesn't mean that he can't!
  3. I don't know if or how long this hot streak will last, but I'll definitely take it. It's also come at a good time for the team. It is nice that his hard work has paid off, even if just for a short while. He's getting his opportunity and he's taking full advantage of it.
  4. I'm glad they won, but the fact that the only runs were scored on one hit against the O's lackluster pitchers today doesn't give me many warm fuzziest.
  5. Oh, is that all? I thought you were going to say that it's virtually impossible!
  6. Aren't we sick enough from watching this team already?
  7. I imagine that plays into the error by Donaldson. That turn isn't something he's all that familiar with, but that's still a play, that even he would appear to agree with, that should have been made. He had the time. Though, judging by how he set himself up for that, he hasn't practiced that enough.
  8. And yet, the play still wasn't made! Rather incredible, really. Even the guys backing the play up failed.
  9. This may not be the worst idea. Baffert knows a lot of things ranging from horsesh*t to winning. This team's play has the former covered, so maybe he can help with the latter?
  10. That's part of the indictment. The White Sox aren't world beaters and have some key injuries, yet this team doesn't look remotely close to being able to beat them. The fact that other lesser teams are competitive with this team reflects what you're saying. Average teams should walk all over this squad right now.
  11. They are fun to watch. I picked them to the win the division, but figured that they'd be a bit of a wild card. They still might be, but they execute as they should and don't rely on hitting the ball out of the park. It's a bonus, not the basis of an offense.
  12. It's quite an indictment of this team that despite the White Sox being depleted, they're still light years better than this squad. That's not a good sign. Also, the Scott Badger Tweet makes me sad.
  13. Amazing what can happen when a team can execute with RISP and also have a legit bullpen. That's about all I can muster after this one.
  14. Agreed. I mentioned in another post that I don't blame either party for the lack of extension, simply stating a fact. He's on a trade list because he is not signed long term. He wouldn't be if he were. I don't think anyone is at fault, it's just a fact of the matter.
  15. Entirely possible. Given the composition of the 40 man, he seems more likely to get traded than to ride out his contract. Barring injury anyway. I wonder what the presence of Pujols on the market does to Sano's possible suitors.
  16. I don't disagree, any one team can see value in any particular player and all it takes sometimes is to have the one team interested. That's how they were signed to a roster in the first place. And nothing says that you can't seek out trades for those players. Desperation is a thing. I'm just looking at the notion that a player has no value to the Twins, so we should expect other teams to pony up worthwhile trade chips in return. Of the players listed, I believe that Sano was the only player under contract for more than this year. So, dealing them doesn't really impact anything long term either. Plus, teams that trade for depth are contending teams, which significantly reduces your trade partners. Rebuilding or middle of the road teams aren't going to trade for any of those guys aside from maybe Sano. He's the only impact player in that list.
  17. Sure, but it's far more difficult to trade a player that doesn't have value. Another team has to want them. Teams can simply scoop them up after they've been released and it costs them nothing.
  18. I'm not really arguing the case either way, just noting that the two are related. You're correct, Buxton wasn't going to sign a team friendly deal, and I don't blame him for that nor do I blame the FO for not giving in to whatever he wanted. But he is on a trade list because he has not signed long term. That's not necessarily indicating blame or guilt on anyone's part, just stating facts. Buxton still provides value, but not nearly as much as he would if he stayed healthy. I wonder how different the circumstances would be if he could stay healthy, but we'll never know.
  19. This has been my biggest hang up with the setup as well. Plus, I liked that it was a different brand of baseball. It served as a nice changeup from MLB and provided a much more fun and laid back atmosphere. There are good points for it too, but there are definitely aspects that I'll miss.
  20. Those guys don't provide a lot of value. So, if the object is to improve this team, they'll need to deal guys that other teams actually want.
  21. I do think it is a bit early to start talking about this. While the team has dug itself into a hole, it's not an insurmountable one. This could be a different conversation this time next week. The team is not without it's warts. Very serious ones in some cases. As for any conversation on Sano, he's probably worked himself into no man's land regarding a trade. He doesn't provide a lot of value unless he improves, but if he improves, then why trade him now?
  22. As hard as this team was to follow while making the Tigers look competent and the Rangers look above average, I'm not looking forward to see what Chicago and Oakland will do to them. Health can be blamed for some of the offensive struggles, but they keep taking one step forward and two steps back in that department. Meanwhile. the bullpen can't manage to get out of its own way. Not being able to do much damage after this past week is disappointing, to say the least. As far as weeks in May are concerned, this will be a rather important one for this team.
