  1. Tonight's win was exactly the kind of win one would expect from a good bullpen. Good bullpens stop the opponent from scoring runs. There are other more appropriate threads to complain about the bullpen, and valid reasons to want some fortification. When they go six scoreless innings a week after a seventeen inning game which was a week after an eighteen inning game you could at least tip your cap a little
  2. I'll feel less like we're tempting fate by discussing the DS rotation if we can steal two wins in Cleveland
  3. He also threw only eighteen pitches through two innings! I doubt they use him tomorrow but we should have him for Sunday
  4. Let's hope for a win heading in to the off day and a good homestead. The last two weeks have been rough in terms of games played, if not in strength of schedule. We've been lucky enough that everyone in our weight class seems to lose on the same days we do.
  5. I don't know what more you want from Hildenberger. He's been exceptional. Busenitz has been pretty good too from what I've seen. How many of the young relievers you cited are hurt?
  6. Chapter fifteen of Moby Dick is all about chowder. Too bad Melville isn't starting in Boston
  7. NB that every record breakdown in the W-L ledger is lower than the Twins's overall record
  8. I wonder if one could use the Statcast data pool (especially as it grows larger) to extrapolate data on outcomes in games played before the pompously named "Statcast Era". For the sake of argument: if, say, right handed hitters have hit eight hundred home runs a distance of 440 feet to left center field since 2008, and we have all the data on exit velocity and launch angle, could we then take that data and assign a likely value for exit velocity and launch angle to a 440 foot home run hit by a right handed hitter in the 1982 season? Prognosticating backwards is silly, I admit. Just a passing thought
  9. Late to the party but holy crap was Buxton's homer awesome. Tears of joy
  10. I am by no means against the addition of prosecco. You can't be a minimalist all the time
  11. One could also serve sidecars, which don't get much love but are the reputed origin of the margarita
  12. Margaritas need only decent tequila, Cointreau, and fresh squeezed lime juice. If you want sweeter you might consider agave nectar in place of simple syrup. It adds a nice depth. My most recent beer cocktail was lemongrass infused vodka, honey syrup, black pepper, chamomile bitters, and IPA, and it was absurdly quaffable
  13. The best way I've found to do that is be born into a royal family or be part of the cabal of a strongman in a mineral rich country. Keanu Reeves might have better advice than I do
