    The "keep Dozier" crowd seems to me to be taking a very shortsighted look at the whole situation. The twins need to be thinking 3 to 4 years ahead when there is a chance for our pitching and offense to match up. There is no way we are turning the pitching staff around in 1 year, so we may have a very good Dozier again next year but we will still be terrible. Or else Dozier struggles and we blew a huge opportunity. Why risk it?

    If there's controllable, high upside pitching that can be had for Dozier it should be done. We have enough offense to overcome his loss.

    Odds are Thome probably tried a steroid or two back in the 90's too just like everyone else from that era

    I don't think he'll sign with us either. I do think the casual fan would be more likely to go watch the Twins with him on the team in September. I also don't believe he's as despised as you say. His 700th homerun will/would get him an ovation wherever he is

    I would try if I were the Twins. Not a whole lot of positives from a baseball standpoint except maybe Sano gets to pick his brain a little bit. Consider though that Target field will be empty in September as the club now stands. Arod chasing 700 would probably fill the place. So business wise it's a yes. Baseball wise it's a no.

    Have him work to improve his defense (he's not that old, it can be done) and suddenly he's a pretty good player to have on the roster

    IF he is qualified, does he have the guts(for lack of a better term) to break up the country club atmosphere that is perceived by the public? This is the real issue this organization faces. Fans know an outside hire won't be afraid to shake things up, which is why the outsider is so appealing.

    If strictly identifying ML breaking balls is the issue then fine he should be in the majors, but many (and i assume the Twins) believe there are fundamental flaws in his swing that need refining and the best way to do that is with low pressure and lots of reps.

    Having been good at a sport doesn't make one a good coach at said sport. Not saying he couldn't be a great coach, but having been good at a sport is not a good predictor of being a successful coach/manager

    For a fan base that wants to start seeing things done right, there sure are a lot of people that want to keep doing things wrong with this kid. He was pushed way way way too fast by a desperate FO and set up to fail. Now he needs to be given time take a step back and reset and be given time to develop at the proper pace. He could be in the minors for 2 or 3 more years before he figures it out. Being hot for a few months at AAA does not mean you're ready for the majors. Hopefully whatever GM is brought in handles the situation well

    The point is we're focused on the next 5 years not next year. Who cares if we don't have Santana next year

    He just pitched pretty well in his last start for Baltimore and I'd assume he's one of the last players they'd want to get rid of in a trade for Santana

    Is it possible that Pohlad just decided to freeze all assets and let a new GM start fresh? Not saying this would be very smart, but it's safer than letting Antony make any deals

    The Target Field experience and Twins brand (non-baseball) is adequate so if they separate St. Peter from all baseball activities, keeping him around is ok and a non-issue in my book

    It's absurd to suggest the Twins don't need a search firm. Pohlad and DSP don't know baseball, having said so themselves. Seriously, how is there any resistance to the idea of this team using a search firm? This might be the most appropriate time in the history of the world for a search firm to be used

    It's laughable how St. Peter says whatever he can to keep his name out of the baseball part of the club... Genius actually, but I'm sure he'll be the first to take credit whenever the winning starts up again

    Smart franchises know that you can DFA a guy that isn't playing up to his contract. Sunk costs are a real thing and something smart GM's and owners plan for. I'm sure toronto knows they'll be paying Tulowitzki while he's a bench player for some other team. These big contracts do not kill smart franchises

    The "need more time" argument for GM's is fine if there's a solid plan being executed and people can see light at the end of the tunnel. Every GM that's been fired in history would probably say they need more time. TR makes weird decisions that make no sense and then after tries to say they are all a part of a plan. There is overwhelming evidence that there is no plan and never really was. Also, there is no light at the end of the tunnel.

    Taking shots at Mauer for concussions is just wrong. I've had 3 in the last 5 years playing junior hockey and then college hockey and they legitimately change your life. I commend him for still playing as well as he does despite the concussion issues
