  1. Demote Stashak until he figures it out. That's the curse (for a player) of having options left. Put Colome on 5th-6th inning duty for a couple weeks. Call up...anybody else. They can't do worse.
  2. Um, there was a Covid outbreak and they just put like 5 players on the IL. I'd say their depth is pretty deep considering the abnormal circumstances. A lot of teams would be pillaging AAAA castoffs and AA at this point. Have the back-ups underperformed through 3 weeks? Yes. But baseball is a game of streaks. Players aren't going to continue to hit sub .200. It's also like 45 degrees outside, which isn't ideal for a game with a lesser action level. This will inevitably affect some players' performance.
  3. I swear I read that when he was among the final cuts in mid March (because it surprised me at the time), but google isn't backing it up. I guess it's just my old age.
  4. Here's hoping it's all part of a slow development for Gordon. My memory is often wrong on these things, but I feel like everybody had given on up Span by the time of his call-up too, and he had a productive career.
  5. Tough break for Blankenhorn. On the other hand, he was assigned to AA out of Spring Training, which doesn't scream that they have confidence in his readiness.
  6. The Twins dealt with Rodney and Parker in very different ways.
  7. Way to take one of the few positives so far this season and put a negative spin on it.
  8. 100% this. I wouldn't surprised to see him sent to St Paul once they begin AAA games to gain more experience that way. That probably depends if Garver can figure it out.
  9. Twins have been better on the road in recent seasons. Perhaps it's just the cold in 2021, perhaps it's continuing a trend.
  10. They signed Dobnak to that contract for a reason. I assume they want him pitching in MLB.
  11. Hell of a pitching duo for a DH. Love the "second MLB debut" line. I will reluctantly refrain from further comment.
  12. Was it political when they cancelled the game after the I-35W bridge fell too?
  13. I see some Sano positives. Not in the stat sheet, of course. Rose colored glasses: He was striking out in week 1, popping out in week 2. That means he's getting closer with his timing. And he's drawing walks, so it's just completing flailing at bad pitches. Polanco has me more concerned and I wonder if any of it is the new position. Not sure what think of Jeffers. I could see him being sent down when the AAA season starts.
  14. Colome was bad, but there's a lot of blame to go around when you give up 8 unanswered runs. Not to defend his performance, but 73 pitches in a week is a lot for a one-inning specialist.
  15. There's a Blake Parker or Addison Reed letdown every year. It's about how the roster adjusts over the next 145 games as this stuff ebbs and flows. I'm disappointed in Colome, but it will be sorted out.
  16. I agree about the Buxton specific part here, but I think an unwritten subject of all these "Yankees Curse" years is that the team's core players have often been injured in October, from Morneau to prospect Sano to Donaldson and Buxton. Fingers crossed this is the year (and every year to follow).
  17. I disagree, as that means they've given up on the majority of players in their system. They weighed the pros/cons vs the odds of a rare transaction and maybe lost. They didn't give up on a player. That would be waiving him. They gave up on David Ortiz. And, from the looks of TD, Baddoo is the new Ortiz
  18. Since when is not being on the 40-roster "giving up" on a player?
  19. In Rooker's defense, he may have been playing with an oblique injury.
  20. It's nigh-impossible to compared a hitter to a pitcher. Both have considerable injury risk, Berrios just for being a pitcher. If Buxton can hit for power, that cancels some of the loss of speed he'll inevitably suffer. The real question is if Buxton can stay healthy now that he's a bit older. If so, and if forced to choose, I'd say Buxton. Given their track records, Berrios is set up better for a long-term deal at the moment though. Maybe Buxton with a buyout option in the middle?
  21. I wonder if teams will start walking the first batter in extras. Seems like a force at all 3 bases would almost make it easier...
  22. It's clear from your post that you've never had a migraine. Also, if there was a cure-all medicine for it...don't you think he (and millions of others) would be doing that? "Shut up and take an aspirin" is beyond offensive. And, we're in the middle of a pandemic. Any player who is feeling ill is going to be removed from the game.
