  2. @KirbyDome89 and @chpettit19- Thank you for the debate! But, for the sake of the thread, I think you both have reached the end of your arguments. Let's move on now.
  3. They didn't poll that many because most of the Sox fans I know here in Chicago didn't like him, at all
  4. https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/twins-alex-kirilloff-making-progress-with-wrist/ Maybe this started after you left? Then again, this report didn’t give much detail so …
  5. All I’m saying, if it’s about what they’ve contributed to a major league roster, ES hasn’t yet. Again why I said in a different post, let’s check back … too soon to call the trade a bust or a win, but I still think it was a good trade, and I’d do it aegain in a heartbeat. Pitching is costly no matter how you go about it. And good pitching is what everyone needs. The fact that Mahle had another year of control means the FO was hoping for future contributions and not just last year, which didn’t work out. Again, I’d still make that trade. And pulling the trigger on a trade for a position of need using prospects of depth is something all good teams do.
  6. Wow. Okay. You aren’t following and keep changing the discussion so I’ll leave it there. And we’ve had a couple of very good threads this spring about building a rotation. Guess you missed those 🙂
  7. Steer, imo, isn’t better than Lee or Julien. That’s my point. I don’t think either Steer or ES (who this thread is about, not Steer) would be next in line in depth with the Twins. Again, would you rather have an Archer-Bundy-line pitcher this year instead?
  8. 🙄 Not exactly sure your question. ES still would remain behind the 4 I listed. And are you saying that you would prefer a Bundy or Archer on the starting rotation this year instead of Mahle? For you and others who say Mahle has yet to give us anything, fine. But what would ES give us this year? Still 5th on the depth chart. That’s why I said let’s check back in 10-15 yrs from now
  9. Wasn't there a list somewhere, sometime of players saying who the worst fans were from their perspective? Wasn't Boston high up on that list, or maybe tops?
  10. Indeed. I'd heard he has the best arm? Maybe I heard wrong, but he can throw
  11. That is quite a bit overstated, imo. It already was a good trade. ES may become a solid MLBer with a good bat, but he would still be behind Lewis, Martin, Lee and Julien on our depth chart. Trading him for a solid pitcher was a good trade. Even if Mahle has a decent year, not necessarily Cy Young, but decent, giving the Twins more chances to win than lose, it was a good trade for the Twins, even if EC has an all-star caliber year. We got what we needed out of it. That’s all that matters. Many of you here are treating this as if ES is already a perennial all-star. Maybe revisit this in 10-15 years to see how things truly played out
  12. Episode 2 is out … I just really can’t wait for the season to start!
  13. While I agree, and have stated here many times, I can’t get overly upset or expend negative energy on things over which I have zero control, let’s keep our comments directed to the topic and not speculating on the mental well being of fellow posters
  14. I’m not talking about velocity in and of itself, that’s not my question, although some pitchers have stated it is their goal to gain velocity, my question/concern is about being at their top season form now, at the beginning of ST. Will they tire sooner, before the end of the season? Injuries for pushing themselves harder earlier? Can they sustain these levels through the whole season after reaching then so soon into ST? In past STs, we didn’t see these mid-season form velocities, sometimes not until April or May, and now we’ve hit them at the beginning of February.
  15. We’ve heard/read reports from ST that pitching velocity is already high, at season levels and not early ST levels. So, I have a question I don’t have an answer for, and won’t, likely until September, or later into October, but will this be a detriment down the road of seeing tired or injured (knock on wood) arms? Some pitchers have ramped up early because of the WBC, but will it last through the season and into the post season? Or will we see regression? Thoughts?
  16. I was being a bit funny. Have noticed game day sometimes freezes
  17. It ended? Twins were up 6-2, no need to play the bottom of the 9th
  18. As I said, I’d give you the latter, but the other one I don’t think would have been caught, shift or no shift
  19. I was there. That hit in the 4th was hit very well, pretty hard, and was over anyone’s head in the infield. It would not have been caught, imo, from watching the game live. His last hit, maybe. That one was possibly helped by no shift, but the earlier one was a good solid hit
  20. Yep. I expect that early on as it is. By the final week, though, hopefully less so
  21. You also don’t see that as often, esp when a pitcher is using the pick off to give time to a reliever warming up. But, now that the pitchers are limited, will we see the catcher make more throws to first this season?
  22. None of his hits I think were really affected by that, though
  23. I’m not sure that’s why they acquired him. He’s a very good receiver and he is very good at controlling the running game. With larger bases, that is very important.
