He’s been getting beaten down for a while now. Most of the season in fact. That’s why you can’t just say “it’s ok to lose x game”. Continuing to win these games so we can rest him a bit at the end (or secure the bye) it will be a huge help for the playoffs.
It doesn’t have to be “barren”, it just has to not produce enough quality players to help the big team. A lot of the guys you mention are big question marks. Even Ryan was up and down. Way too soon to tell on varland. Ober is not super impressive even when healthy. Lewis coming off an ACL.
I’m not saying they mean everything, but we’ve lost several guys who helped us get a high ranking and several others have disappointed.
We seem to have a serious problem in player development throughout the system. Guys showing up to the ML club lacking basic fundamentals of the game. Doesn’t bode well for player development in the near future
We’re kind of living that now though aren’t we? 31 years to be exact. I don’t count setting playoff loss records are much more than rubble, especially in the increasingly watered down playoff system
Isn’t it more sad that I’ve seen exactly 6 playoff wins in 30 years of watching this team? Let me say that again. 6. In 30 years of following this team. The mariners, who only this year broke a 20 year playoff drought, have many more wins over that timeframe.
Change that and I’ll have some faith.
Agree 100%. I don’t see the point. I’m not a metrics guy so I’m sure someone will tell me how wrong I am but I watched probably 70% of the games last year and he was underwhelming until late in the season when we were already toast. Plus, I have no idea why he’d want to be in MN. We aren’t close to seriously competing. Signing him would be like throwing some expensive rims on a Tercel
I don’t believe for one second CC wants to stay here. Combination of money and a chance to win a ring will have him saying “see ya later” very soon. And I wouldn’t be the least bit upset about it.
Hey maybe we can trade duran the day before the season starts for another guy with TJ history and a past his “prime” reliever! Then after we blow numerous late leads, we can try to bolster the bullpen at the trade deadline. Cross our fingers and hope it works out!
Meh. #1 overall pick, career losing record, passer rating mid 80s, average completion percentage. Drafted #1 overall in ‘18 and couldn’t even keep a place on the terrible panthers. Manziel was a late first round pick
A 10-2 record is fairly rare for the Vikings. Did it in 2017, 2009, 2000, 1998 (11-1), 1975 (11-1), 1973, 1970, 1969 (11-1). All but 2 of those years they advanced to the NFCCG
And both those games the Vikings were beaten by the better defense as their offense sputtered. And SF has a better defense than those two teams. Heck, Washington is 7th in yards allowed per game and top 15 in scoring. That could be a first round matchup right there. They had us dead to rights until ol’ Taylor heinecke overthrew his receiver by 15 yards
The lowest ranked defense to ever win a Super Bowl was the 2011 giants and they were 25th on Y/G and points allowed/game. Right now the Vikings are 31 in Y/G and 20th in scoring.
All I said was that SF will still have a chance even with their 3rd string QB because their defense is #1 in the league. NE and the jets started below average QBs and took us to the wire. Our offense is wonderful but I would take the SF defense in one second. And you would too. Kirk didn’t have his best game today, but we’re toast if he goes down. Good defenses almost always top good offenses. I’ve watched too much football to get super excited about going 3-1 while allowing 460 average yards a game and a -22 point differential. Take out the cowboys blowout and our 3 wins were by a total of 15 points.
