  1. lol I forget to say 1 dollar for every K
  2. 11 million dollars? 1 dollar for every strikeout!
  3. I’m almost 40 years old and have experienced a grand total of six playoff wins. 6. This dud of an off-season is merely another drop in the bucket.
  4. Twins need to emulate the TB Rays of the world. They get 15 fans to every game but have had 4 losing seasons and 2 pennants since 2008. Scouting and development must immediately get better, and that probably means yet another change in FO management. Our minor league system is pretty rough, and guys aren’t coming here skilled in the fundamentals of the game. During the lean years of the later 90s, the farm system was developing players who were at least schooled properly and it led to a solid 10 year run of competitiveness. The organization was so good at it, the ignorant national media still references “the twins way” whenever we’re on national television. Hasn’t been that way in a long time. If we can’t compete with the money grab that’s going on currently, then we’d better fix up the scouting/development. Maybe we could catch lightning in a bottle and have a young team come out of nowhere to win a pennant. That’s about the only way I can see it happening.
  5. lol cheer up. at least you got to experience the World Series. My most memorable twins moment was game 163. And that was followed promptly by a sweep in NY
  6. I can’t imagine the Vikings ever having a defense as good as the one SF has right now
  7. SF just keeps on keepin on. If they close out this game and the Vikings lose Saturday, SF will have the tiebreaker for the 2 seed. Better conference record
  8. He did turn around what was a pretty awful team in short order. Also had to deal with playing at TCF and losing his quarterback a week before the season started. Also should have won a playoff game if not for a missed extra point of a field goal. Ever since halftime of the saints miracle game, his defenses (and apparently him in general) were bad. That seemed to be the turning point. He should have welcomed Kirk with open arms since he was an upgrade over guys like teddy and Sam Bradford. But of course there was a money impact from Kirk. Obviously handled it terribly
  9. Seems as if the only way for teams like the twins to counter this wild contract stuff is to start getting a whole lot better at scouting/drafting and developing big leaguers. There was a time not long ago the organization was really good at it. Need to improve in that area immediately.
  10. 13 years? Lmao baseball is ridiculous. They’ll need to install a hand rail going down the first base line for the last year of his contract
  11. I just meant that we keep wasting years of a QB who is capable of winning a Super Bowl. Maybe that’s a bit of a stretch for a guy who has exactly one playoff win, but I don’t think there are that many starting quarterbacks in the league right now who are capable of winning one based on their talents and limitations. Kirk is not having his best statistical year this season, but I’d take him over probably 25 other starters in the league right now. Heck he might even be higher than that. Mahomes, Allen, burrow, hurts…borderline guys like Dak and Lamar Jackson. I’d take Kirk over Tua and Herbert all day. And he’s never had a good offensive line his entire time here. Ever. He’s not missed a single game due to injury. Kirk isn’t a superstar, but think how bad it would be if we didn’t have him. The Vikings spent decades looking for that steady, long term, above average QB when they had strong rosters. Finally got one in Kirk and the rest of the roster is weak. Maybe zimmer was on to something ?
  12. It stinks that Kirk is probably talented enough to help us win a Super Bowl but we just don’t have nearly enough on the roster for that to be a realistic possibility during the rest of his time here.
  13. Yep, and I believed zimmer was the right guy at the time with that group. Turns out he was a pariah and disliked in the locker room. You wonder how that group would have done with a guy like KOC? He seems to be the right guy (despite his inane goal line jump pass that swung the entire game on Sunday). Unfortunately with the poor drafts and lack of salary cap room, I can see him being a casualty if we go through a rebuild. Just the nature of the league and the story of the Vikings. Timing has never been our thing.
  14. And as mentioned further up the thread, kirk is already kid 30s. Drafting a QB will soon become a high priority if it isn’t already. And unfortunately we don’t have a lot of high picks to do that coming up and you know the team will continue to not be terrible enough to get a top 5 pick. I look back at 2017 and think that was the shot for this particular window with this core group of guys.
  15. Being at home for the first playoff game would give us a slight edge over most of those lower seeds. The good news is that they will certainly avoid having to play Dallas and SF in round 1. Teams I’d rather face in order: giants, Tampa, seattle, Washington, Detroit
  16. That’s what I mean. If you’re going to go young and innovative, go young and innovative
  17. You don’t have to be disappointed, but I’m also not going to take any solace that we had a better year than last year, record wise. And in fact, the defense has actually gotten worse since last season. They were ranked 24 last year and are now dead last yardage wise. Last year’s team is actually very similar to 2022 IMO. The biggest difference has been the performance in close games which I believe is a direct result of having a head coach that the players neither feared nor hated. Having confidence that your coach has your back and won’t degrade you if you fail goes a long way. And yeah, the wild, ridiculous wins have been fun, but in January it’s going to end like so many other years have ended: bounced out by a better team
  18. Been a lot of fun seasons, they just all end the same way. Pretty well tired of it at this point.
  19. Because it doesn’t portend future success. For a team without a championship appearance in over 40 years, it’s not something to get excited about. The window is not wide swinging open, if it’s open at all. it’s just another winning season for one of the winningest franchises in the sport. But ultimately, another that will end without a title. I can’t think of another team that has wasted more generational talent than the Vikings.
  20. I don’t know, I feel like I’ve seen this movie 100 times. By the time the defense improves, the offense is probably going to take steps back. Cook and thielen seem to be past their prime. Kirk is already 34. Guys like JJ and hockenson are great pieces but the Oline is still not good. Even on the defensive side of the ball, Kendricks seems to be nearly done, HSmith is great but won’t stick around much longer. ZSmith and Hunter have been ghosts. There is a ton of work to do on defense. To borrow a real estate term (which I hate), the Vikings franchise always has “good bones”, quality pieces that other franchises lack. But they just can’t put it all together at once. I dont know why but it’s been happening for 60+ years. I marvel at a team like SF who is on their third QB and laid an absolute beat down on Tom Brady and Tampa. When was the last time the Vikings went out and just dominated someone from start to finish?
  21. They won’t get to the NFCCG if they finish with the 3 seed, which is looking increasingly likely with a couple divisional road games left and game on Saturday with a team coming off a bye. You simply can’t hide a terrible defense in the NFL, and the Vikings have now moved into dead last in yards allowed and 2nd to last in yards/play. Why you would hire an ultra young offensive minded coach in his first head coaching job and then hire a guy who’s been a DC for over 20 years is a head scratcher.
  22. Best teams in the NFC according to me: eagles 49ers cowboys vikings Commanders seahawks bucs lions giants I would favor the Vikings to win a playoff game against seattle, Tampa and the giants. Slight favorites over Washington and the lions because of the home field in round one. Finish as the third seed and it’ll be a divisional round exit. Highly doubt we could go into Philly or SF and win a road playoff game
