  1. I'd argue it's a loss for us to forfeit Sano's arm by having him play 1b. This isn't little league where everyone on the team bats right handed and the first baseman literally only makes plays on balls thrown to him from the left side of the infield. Players at first have to make many of the same plays, as far as range goes on ground balls, as they do at third and more (holding runners, erasing bad throws from other infielders, more complicated footwork). By moving him across the diamond you take away his biggest asset on defense, his arm. I can live with the DH argument, but the 1B doesn't make sense to me in the near future.
  2. Why has there been no Gore steam? He's left-handed, could be the best pitcher coming out of high school, racked up some accolades, seems to have positive scouting reviews, and in my opinion looks like a guy they could possibly sign under slot to aim for a higher ceiling guy that may fall.
  3. I know a 2 way player isn't the most realistic dream in the world, but would a guy who can play everyday and possibly close games be an option? Big time velocity, and a 2 pitch mix would be valuable in the pen at the end of games...
  4. I know I may be in the minority here, which is alright, I just fear that the Twins traded the wrong outfielder. I like Rosario, but I think what we saw this year is all he'll ever be. An erratic guy who hits .270ish and doesn't take walks while swinging at everything. Is that really better than Aaron Hicks will be? Yeah it could be, but I like the ability that Hicks has to take walks, work counts, and he showed to be more aggressive this year which I think will ultimately make him better. I know that I could be totally wrong, but I like his upside better than Rosario's. Not to mention I think if we would have traded Eddie, we would have been trading higher on him and could have maybe gotten more back in return for him. Plus, Aaron is a plus centerfielder if Buxton is not ready come April. Just my thoughts on the outfield situation.
  5. I think that the interesting part of this team is that they had stretches where they were carried by 5 different players playing out of their mind baseball for a period of time. Early on it was Torii, then Dozier carried them for the better part of 2-3 months, he went a little cold and Hicks (of all people) was on fire for a month, then Sano took over, followed by a strong finish by Eddie Escobar. Mauer had a couple of hot streaks mixed in there and Trevor was probably our most steady player all year. The same could be said for the pitching. There were a lot of different pitchers who had great stretches. I would love it if this team could find a way to turn those great stretches into maintained success in 2016!
  6. I'd argue that the Twins got it wrong in that they continue to hang on to veterans who are plugging positions. They should have traded Pelfrey before sending May to the bullpen. He hasn't been as terrible this year as in years past and maybe you could have gotten more for him than we gave up for Jepsen. Also, should start to think about what happens with Trevor Plouffe, if this isn't the year for the Twins to chase the playoffs, what does his future hold and are we holding onto someone who would be more valuable to the organizations future in trading him if we are in fact playing for next year. I just think that if they weren't going to make a push this year that they should have gotten some value from some players who may not be a part of the core of this team in the next couple years. I really like Plouffe and think that him and Sano are both valuable (Trevor's trade value will probably never be higher than it is now), but if we could fill more holes and rotate guys through the DH spot I think that's what is best for this team in 2016 and beyond, which is seemingly where this organization is looking.
  7. What excites me more about this years Twins as far as the buy/sell question goes, is that they have the potential to better their team by "selling". They have some veterans that are maybe playing a bit over their head that they could get value for, stock the farm a little more, and have a youngster possibly improve the team. Pelfrey, Boyer, and hunter (although he's one of my all time favorite twins, so please don't) come to mind; even plouffe while his value will never be higher (given his age and probable decline in the next couple years) could pull a nice haul to stock the farm. I'd like to see the twins get a stud catching prospect.
