  1. The games will be available. It's unlikely Bally's will cease operations before the end of the 2023 season. If somehow that happens, the Twins will immediately take their rights back. They already produce the games. When Victory Sports One folded, they were back on Fox Sports North the very next day.
  2. Figured this is worthy of a thread. Has significant impact on the Twins. Personally I'm glad. Not a fan of Sinclaire/Bally's. Whatever replaces it should be better. Back in 2019, Sinclair Broadcast Group completed a deal with Fox Regional Sports Networks. Sinclair’s sports channels are referred to as Bally Sports Regional Sports Networks (RSN). Bally Sports RSN is the service that several fan bases need to have in order to watch their local MLB, NBA and NHL teams. Today, it was announced that Sinclair’s sports channels, including the RSNs, are preparing to file for bankruptcy. Diamond Sports Group LLC, which runs Sinclair’s sports channels, is reportedly $8.6 billion in debt. On top of that, Sinclair owes $55 billion in sports-media rights to MLB, NBA, and NHL teams across the country. Sinclair is reportedly hoping to strike a deal to help them keep the channels operating during bankruptcy. How might Bally Sports Regional Sports Networks preparing for bankruptcy affect fans who want to watch their local teams? A big contributing factor that has led to this has been companies refusing to pay the high price Sinclair wants for its Bally Sports RSNs. This is why RSNs are no longer available on DISH networks and streaming services such as YouTube TV, sling, and others. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nhl/bally-sports-regional-sports-networks-preparing-for-bankruptcy/ar-AA16Kvlz?li=BBnb7Kz
  3. I see Larnach as the primary DH (along with Buxton). Kiriloff will play 1st if he's on the team. If AK isn't healthy, Gallo likely plays 1st and Larnach/Gordon move to LF. Either way, I don't see any need to move Kepler just to move him.
  4. Perhaps but weren't they claiming he would shift over to CF whenever needed?
  5. You won't. So we'll trade Royce Lewis and Jose Miranda for a #3 starter with two years of team control in a couple years. But we'll "win" that trade. Believe me.
  6. Since we're playing pick-a-stat, For April, Lopez had a 0.39 ERA. From May 1st to the end of the season, he had a 4.25 ERA. Dylan Bundy: April: 2.97 ERA. The rest of the season: 5.23. Chris Archer: April: 2.93 ERA. The rest of the season: 4.84.
  7. What's confusing? The rotation yesterday was Gray, Ryan, Mahle, Ober and Maeda. Today it's Gray, Ryan, Mahle, Lopez and either Ober or Meada. I get it was a general comment on the team, but bringing up Bundy or Archer in regards to this trade is irrelevant.
  8. That's true. But then it's an upgrade over Winder/Varland/SWR. Archer and Bundy are irrelevant. They're not here, and no other cheap crappy veteran was going to make the starts Lopez will now make. If he makes 30 starts, probably 20 of them are in place of Maeda or Ober with the rest Winder etc.
  9. Lopez isn't directly replacing Archer or Bundy though. He's replacing either Maeda or Ober, which makes the upgrade pretty muted IMO.
  10. Whether he's a better hitter than Correa is not really the point. This makes the offense significantly worse while making the pitching marginally better. The 2023 team is not improved by this trade. The 2028 team might be, but then what are we doing signing Correa and holding onto Gray/Mahle etc.? Are we trying to win now or not? Contending teams don't trade the reigning AL batting champ and they don't trade their closer on Opening Day. This front office perpetually doesn't know if it's coming or going.
  11. Trading your best hitter for a mild upgrade to your rotation doesn't improve the 2023 club no matter what. We have no set DH and Larnach and Gallo are not locks to be healthy or effective. A healthy Kiriloff would have gotten full playing time Arreaz or no Arreaz. But I'm sure the A ball prospects we got will be exciting for whoever is running the team in 2028 after Falvey is long gone (hopefully.)
  12. Bad move that will go over like a fart in Church with the fan base. Not that they care.
  13. I doubt it will. But if it leads to their exit, I guess that's an upside.
