  1. That’s a new development! How did you get into coaching high school golf?
  2. A (Kyle) Farmer and (Andrew) Painter walk into a bar… Not sure what the punch line of that joke could be. @USAFChief?
  3. Painter is very impressive. If he breaks camp with the MLB team like my Phillies friends believe will happen, he will be the youngest pitcher to debut since Rick Porcello.
  4. Bally Sports has the pitch clock placement figured out on their presentation. Very subtle.
  5. Spring training check in… Are you in the best or worst shape of your life? Is @Squirrelstill hibernating for the winter? Is @wsnydesdrunk on his couch at 11:30 in the morning? Is @Mike Sixelon a golf course or at a winery? Is @John Bonnesthe next Tik Tok superstar? Does @Richie the Rally Goat hibernate in the winter? Did we win yet?
  6. Ah dang it. Forgot to put the time in the title. Even old timey veterans need a spring training tune up!
  7. Correa is making his debut today. Should be a fun time! The Phillies are starting 19 year old Andrew Painter today - the 13th overall pick in the 2021 draft.
  8. I appreciate that the new focus Falvey built for 2023 is pitching and defense. The offense on the other hand, I’m in wait and see mode. We are relying on 6 of the projected 9 starters (Kirilloff, Kepler, Gallo, Miranda, Polanco, Buxton) to either bounce back from injury, regain previous value, or make the next step in their career progression. As we all know development isn’t linear. So out of the 6, we can reasonably expect 2 to have better #s than last year, 2 to be about the same, and 2 to have worse #s than last year. Buxton is once again the key to success. I hope we don’t see him selling out his swing for HRs as much as we saw last year. I’d love to see more vintage Buxton hitting it through the infield and sprinting to 2B. Here’s to hoping once again he makes it to 100 games played.
  9. This update almost certainly drops Carter out of the top 5. Maybe the first half of the 1st round.
  10. Really fascinating article to read. The ability to quickly process what’s happening on the field and how much space you have to work with is so crucial to QB success. No wonder why Purdy saw immediate success if he tested similarly to Drew Brees, Mahomes, and Josh Allen. This company is only contracted to work with 14 NFL teams, and hopefully the Vikings are one of them. On a positive note, they mentioned at the end of the article that this QB class tested significantly better than last year’s class. Makes me interested in drafting a QB from this class that tested well.
  11. Agreed. Frankly I didn’t think pitching was the biggest problem last year. I was way more concerned about the feast or famine offense. We will see if that has changed.
  12. Good plan @Danchat . Especially since the theme of your plan is push all the chips in for a SB, which I can see the Wilfs dictating. Not a big fan of the 2/$80 extension for Kirk… But not inconceivable. I’m good with anything except a long term (3+ year) extension for him. I’ve heard on Vikings podcasts that a Brian O’Niell restructure saves the team $10 million in cap space. So you may be selling that too low in your plan. Instead of Bradberry, I’m targeting Byron Murphy Jr instead (if he hits the market). Bradberry for pennies on the dollar that Philly paid is a steal. Him at full price? Meh. Don’t have too much of an opinion on the draft yet. I will say right now my draft crushes are LB Trenton Simpson, NT Siaki Ika, and C John Michael Schmitz.
  13. First team to 85 wins is the AL Central Champion. I don’t think that’s the Twins this year. 80-85 wins as it stands right now. If I had to bet the current over/under of 82.5 wins I would bet the under. Sorry. If I felt comfortable about Buxton playing over 100 games (I don’t) I’d bet over.
  14. Yeah, unfortunately there’s not too many teams that will give up a 5th round pick for him. My hope is one of the Florida teams so they can play the “he’s coming home” card. But it’s a hard sell to trade a pick away and take on $6-8 million in salary when they can do what we want to do… Draft a RB and go cheap.
  15. I’d rather take my chances that CB Byron Murphy Jr. takes a leap forward as a 25 year old free agent vs. 29 year old Jalen Ramsey. His elite days are over.
  16. Best for both parties to move on. Hopefully we can find a trade partner at the scouting combine. If not, let him loose on the free agent market.
  17. FWIW Loftin added 20 lbs of muscle over the offseason. He is my pick to click for the Royals besides the obvious choices Melendez and Witt Jr.
  18. I’m all for moving Sands to the pen. I think he’ll be much more likely to stick on the Twins as a fastball/curve ball/occasional change up reliever.
  19. Do-Hyoung Park tweeted Maeda topped out at 90.7 MPH today. Decent start. Let’s see if he can bump that up a couple of ticks in the coming weeks.
  20. No arguments here. All 3 of these players are on the edge of flaming out in the minors, which is disappointing. Won’t be the first or last time a prospect I like gets derailed in the minors.
