  1. “Struggled…” “Been terrible…” ”Nothing really interesting or exciting here…” JFC, Twins…
  2. Why does it always have to be “Buy low” with this team? And why do we just lay over and accept this org doing almost all of its shopping from the bargain bin?
  3. I think the two years of leadership & production The Boomstick has brought justifies gambling for two more years. In fact, I’ll be pissed if the Twins let him walk.
  4. Two World Series Titles in four seasons will tend to bring a guy some accolades. Your version of a “star” is very different than mine. Manny Ramirez has one more World Series MVP Awards than Eddie has playoff wins. In GAMES.
  5. I have no doubt Eddie still has plenty of ball let in him. I wouldn’t be a lifelong Minnesota sports fan if I didn’t think he’d come back to haunt the Twins at some point. Fenway fans would run Eddie out of town quicker than a hiccup the first time he blows through the third base coach’s stop sign only to be thrown out at the plate by 15 feet against the Yankees.
  6. One of the most frustrating Twins players to watch in recent memory. All the physical tools to be a phenomenal player. One of my favorite baseball coaches growing up always used to say, “Baseball’s a game of inches, boys. The six between your ears!” So deflating to watch Rosey throw to the wrong base, or air-mail one over the cut-off man’s head, allowing runners to move up. For every great throw he would make to cut down a runner, it seems there would be three bad ones. Always a fine line with Eddie: is he gonna make a heads-up play, or is he gonna make us wonder what his head’s up? Too bad to have let a guy go because you could never be sure if he was in the game or not. Sucks to give up on a guy with that much thunder in his bat, but I’ve been ready to move on from him for quite some time. What does the barber say? “Next!”
  7. Love Joe, but no way is he a first-balloter. MAYBE eventually, but I’m not yet convinced. I’m open to it, but not quite there yet.
  8. In the early ‘90s, one of the Twins clubbies sold Zubaz. They were made by a company owned by Hawk & Animal, The Road Warriors. As visiting teams came through The Dome & saw Twins players & clubbies wearing them, they starting buying them. I’m not even joking when I say that an awful lot of American Leaguers in the early ‘90s wore Zubaz. And it was all due to your Minnesota Twins.
  9. If this is a more a statement about the Twins wanting to check under every stone, I'm on board. If they're serious about re-acquiring him, please kill me.
  10. Love it! Great insurance policy for Sano, & then some! Only thing I don't like about this is it may cost La Tortuga a spot on the 25-man...
  11. Falvine would be crazy to trade either Kiriloff or Rose Royce. kray-ZEE
  12. In the 3 full seasons since making his ML debut in 2015, Sano has played 116, 114, and 71 games. Trending in the wrong direction. Bud Grant always claimed the most important 'abilty' was 'dura'...
  13. Direct involvement or not, if someone keeps finding themselves in 'situations,' at some point the common denominator needs to be factored in.
  14. Sano would be wise to avoid any 'situations' at this juncture of his career. Being at Da Club at 3am doesn't appear to be the best choice. And as it relates to the perception of his character and professionalism, I think Sano is beyond the threshold of 'that in and of itself,' isn't he?
  15. Regardless of what did or didn't happen- Sano being back in the DR seems to be an accepted truth, as was Sano allegedly being out at the club at 3am. Whether he is culpable or not, at this juncture of his career, Sano would seem wise to refrain from any and all circumstances in which trouble could find him.
  16. If the player was approached in a courteous, respectful manner, signing someone else's name is a richard maneuver. If you don't wanna sign, then don't sign & leave it at that. If the player was asked rudely, or even mis-identified as the player whose name he proceeded to sign, then that is a baller move.
  17. This just seems like it's one of the seasons were enough things happen that make you conclude, "Ya know, maybe this just ain't our year..." The Polanco news in spring training got the ball rolling on this. Injuries have hammered this team, and when compounded by several players performances regressing compared to last year, and this is what you get. Think about the positions that have been affected by injuries / stupidity that have not been short-term: 1B SS 3B CF C Just seems like these Twins have had 'bad ju-ju' pretty much from the get-go. Yes, all teams have to fight through injuries, but something just seems 'off' this season.
  18. If anyone wants to deny that being overweight and out of shape adversely affects athletic performance, you are fully entitled to that opinion. Just the same as anyone who could not disagree more is entitled to that line of thinking.
  19. Citing 3-for-37 says all we need to hear about the need to start hitting. Pretty sure the context of Nick's point was that those guys need to start leading the offense, which is pretty much irrefutable.
  20. In a 'Week in Review' column in which the Twins went 2-4 / -21, and when your heroes go a combined 3-for-37, I don't wanna read a feel-good story or a cheerleader piece. Those numbers are what they are, and Nick cited them. Much the same way he'd credit Dozier & Buxton for going 18-for-37, with 5 dingers, 6 steals, and 3 GWRBIs when that happens. The facts is what they is.
  21. Not sure officially, but it should have been ruled a hit and an error. Essentially, every base gained has to be accounted for. And on a close play with a wide throw, the official scorer typically gives the runner the benefit of the doubt. In this case, Buxton should have been credited with a hit, and Gregerson should have been charged with the error allowing Morrison and Buxton advancing an extra base each.
  22. The bad news: With all due respect (and, has anything respectful ever followed that disclaimer?), there was no way Grossman's ball was gonna be caught. Right fielder Young's numbers were visible the entire time as he was in pursuit. Judging from the way the ball came down pretty quickly towards the end, it probably had a ton of topspin on it. You can see Young turn his shoulders to start to play the ball off the wall when Trout swoops in from out of camera range and grabs it. If nothing else, on a ball behind him, Adrianza should have checked with Glynn, who had a far easier read to make on that ball from the third base coaching box. Not scoring from first base on that ball, when running with the pitch, is bad baserunning, plain & simple. The good news: We are bemoaning a tough loss that capped off a 7-3 roadie against one horrible team & two excellent teams. Given the recent rough patch, this is a very good thing. Looks like the ship is well on its way to being righted. Got to get to .500, then start making hay from there.
