  1. That article is so positive (even as qualified), it’s probably destined to be the kiss of death to Miranda’s career. Should have exercised your Miranda right to remain silent.
  2. There is a recent former Cy Young Award winner that you didn’t include on your list. Available on the cheap. Maybe the Twins are trading some of their starting pitching depth, but it doesn’t make much sense to add an additional arm to the abundant pitching they now possess. Go with what they have.
  3. There is so much talk here about trading for a relief pitcher or signing one of the remaining free agents. Like Winder, others on this list should be considered for relief roles. Randy Dobnak and Cole Sands are likely additions to that list.
  4. I did correct my answer to include Billy Martin but it somehow got deleted. Maybe because I mentioned a particular recently pugnacious Twins minor leaguer. Don’t Know. But I would add the Marshmallow Salesman too.
  5. I plan to see a Yokohama Sena Baystars game in May (against the Hiroshima Toyo Carp). I wonder if Fernando Romero will be on the roster for a 3rd year. If he is I will give a Romero update.
  6. If he makes the team, add Jordan Balazovic as another Honorable Mention. That reminds me, I left out Billy Martin. Replace any of my original four with that former manager who was a more excitable guy than even Warren Zevon.
  7. Excitability and intensity Rushmore: : 1. Dan Gladden 2. Juan Berenguer 3. Ron Gardenhire 4. Doug Mientkiewicz (honorable mention: Sergio Romo)
  8. Health is important but Buxton is still the Barometer for this team’s success the more health games played by Byron, the better the results.
  9. OK - Good point. Let’s bat Austin Martin. lead-off. By the way, if he makes it to the big leagues, he could have the coolest car name in the history of the Twins - Almost an Aston Martin with a little Austin-Healey mixed in.
  10. Actually, getting on first and stealing second is better than a double, because it distracts the pitcher. It’s worse to the extent that the runner is thrown out. On base percentage still matters.
  11. I would take Cleveland’s starting pitching over the Twins. When a ball club can trot out an ace two out of five days that trumps DEPTH, especially in the post season.
  12. In the slightly altered lyrics of The Suburbs: Here Joe Ryan is Gray. If I were an excitable guy, this would upset me to no end. Instead, I beat on cans (in Houston).
  13. It the disappointing reports on AK are accurate, THEN later this year, I’d rather see Miranda at 1B once Lewis or Lee can take over 3B (or Correa moves to 3B while one of those players takes over SS). Gallo looks like a place holder (at 1B or LF) unless he lights up Target Field. I have somewhat low expectations for that but I’m willing to see
  14. Didn’t the Twins try their own TV network a while back? My memory is that it didn’t work out so well.
  15. Joe deserves to get in. He did what no catcher had done since the thirties, and then repeated it. Yes, he had boring walk-up music, boring interviews, many years with less than desirable power - But overall, he should be a shoe-in.
  16. The addition of Pablo Lopez, young ready pitchers plus starters returning from injury gives the Twins a deep rotation. There is no need to trade valued prospects for a short-term addition at this juncture. I had been supporting signing Bauer for the MLB minimum, but the Twins now have enough starting talent for this year. Use some of the excess left-handed outfielders, shortstop prospects (not named Lee or Lewis) to trade for quality pitching prospects to stock the minors. I want the Twins ranked in the Top Three minor league systems so we continue to see winning baseball for the next 7 years.
  17. I agree with getting a nice pitching prospect or prospects. The Twins need to build a bigger pipeline of pitching talent. Stock Class A now so we are not complaining about the FA failing to develop pitching 3-4 years from now.
  18. If they wanted a speedy, CF defender, they could have resigned Billy Hamilton. I’m kidding - sort of. The Pale Hose signed him to Minor League deal. This is a real ho-hum trade.
