REPETE's Achievements

  1. Who’s to blame for this? Management. Colome keeps going out there in the 9th. Why? IDK. Rogers, Duffey, Robles, and Alcala should be the closers (If they’re going for multi-closer thing, which is fine). They all throw hard. Thielbar is fine as a setup guy (NOT as a guy to stop the bleeding). Outside of those five, who do we have? Colome sucks as I already said. Brandon Waddell has not looked good. Dobnak is fools gold, always has been. Anderson? We haven’t seen him in the majors yet. Maybe he could be good? IDK. This is a well thought out piece pointing out many faults in all layers of management within the organization. But no, I'm pretty sure it's Bryan...
  2. Reminds me of Randy Bush. He made the same comment, that he could've gone for more money, but by staying on the lower end of his value, he extended his career by never being a "salary dump". Makes you wonder why more players don't think this way.
  3. Texas Rangers are opening at full capacity with no common sense, and we're all going to die!!!! Oh, sorry. That's the other thread that went off the rails.. Watching Big Mike, he gives up 2 runs in the first 2 innings, looking bad. Then it's suddenly the 7th, he's coming out, and the opposition has 2, maybe 3 runs. His performances don't look dominating, but the results are indisputable. I think he'll be fiine, if he can stay out of his own way. His biggest enemy is himself, either taking more banned substances to control weight, or getting too heavy, and pulling something. If so, he'll be a very solid #3, perhaps #2.
  4. The trouble with that philsophy is what we saw last year: a bunch of solo home runs. Dingers are great, but as Bert (so often) told us, solo HRs aren't going to beat you. We need some guys on base for the mashers, to make those 3 run dingers!
  5. The only flaw with this theory is, if/when all those regular players do suffer injuries and are out for weeks/months, it suddenly means all those DH options are playing in the field everyday, and your DH becomes Jake Cave on a daily basis. I, for one, would much rather see a true DH. For that period when the DH is out, or needs a rest, that's the time to filter in these other guys. I would much rather see a really good hitter playing DH day in/day out, hitting somewhere between 3rd-5th slot, than going back to the days of guys like Jake Cave hitting 7th-8th as your DH.
  6. How can you put Sandy Koufax and Kyle Gibson in the same sentence??!??
  7. Personally, I hated the 1st wildcard addition, as it really didn't "punish" them in any way. Adding the 2nd WC team meant both had to play in, so I was all in favor of that. Adding even more WC teams does nothing for me. An 82 win team getting hot at the end of the year can be dangerous, so what's the point of 162 games then? Plus, adding another level to the playoffs? Won't we be finishing the WS sometime around Nov 7? I already hate it when cold weather teams (other than if MN were to win) are in the WS, as the boys of summer look like the Michelin Man standing in the OF.
  8. I'm excited about the potential, but history has proven that bullpens are fickle. The best laid plans for dominance often turn into flops. Guys that were great last year, suddenly can't find the strike zone, or when they do, the ball finds the cheap seats. Hopefully these weren't career years for these guys!
  9. still one of the best quotes ever, by his own manager, Ozzie Guillen, "If you play against him, you hate him. If you play with him, you hate him a little less."
  10. Didn't the Twins surpass the record on a night they lost? To that same Gardy team?
  11. I concur, there is a place for bunting & SBs. However, the lack of execution is obvious. These guys just don't practice it anymore. How many times did we see Joe Mauer try to lay down a bunt for an easy hit, and could never get it done? And that's a guy with a great eye! Asking guys to bunt in this era, unless they're NL pitchers or little fast guys that have to hit it twice to get it out of the park, is futile... and frustrating!
  12. MLB.com had an article the other day "who's your ASG starters?" one Twin mentioned... Polanco.
  13. How true. Modern age technology allowed the Twins to even figure out Verlander, and crush him 1-0!
  14. Which makes more sense; A) start a AAA pitcher against Baltimore, and lose a game against a terrible opponent, then use a good pitcher against Verlander, and lose 3-1, or: Sweep Baltimore, and throw Stewart out there against Verlander? The Orioles may be bad, but Stewart vs O's could've easily ended in the same result as Stewart vs Astros
  15. let's not forget, this has been a miserable spring. Nobody wants a $5, or $10 beer while watching baseball in 31 degree weather.
