  1. The yard sale at Target Field during the last Cleveland series was a goldmine for this. I picked up an Alex Presley jersey and I'm sure the Zack Littel one I got will be obscure after a while. The picture in this post is making me regret I didn't get the Park #52 one that I was considering.
  2. My wife called me at work to complain about the Twins not having made any trades. She became a fan through marriage and I would consider her a little more than just a casual fan, but she has never really paid attention to the trade deadline very much. If she is past disappointment and into anger territory there better be something in the works.
  3. On June 27th Parker loaded the bases against the Rays with no outs in extra innings and got out of it without even giving up a sac fly.
  4. I remember during Adrianza's slow start he was looking completely lost at the plate and then he struck out against Chris Davis in a blowout win versus the Orioles. At that point I thought he was toast and would be DFA'd as soon as another bullpen arm was needed, and I would have been fine with it. Glad that didn't happen and hope he keeps this success up for the whole season and beyond.
  5. Was looking at the videos for the game on mlb.com and they have one titled "Sano, Astudillo on win vs. Angels" but they are actually talking to Arraez. They even show a highlight of Astudillo's single while they are talking to Arraez. Hopefully Arreaz keeps hitting like this and keeps making a name for himself so this mistake doesn't happen again. Great win last night!
  6. If this team wants to be a playoff team then this is a problem. Buxton and Schoop need all the experience they can get against the leagues best if they want to be successful against them in the future.
  7. I agree with you, I don't think any of them really need a day off at this point. I was just assuming he would give them days off based on recent statements and lineups. Forgot about Polanco, I hope he doesn't decide Polanco, Rosario and Buxton should all have Thursday off for some getaway day game crap. When it is 2 or 3 regulars a game like in the last two losses it is a bit aggravating on top of the bullpen failures.
  8. I hope we get the A lineup the next two games to try and split the series. Rosario and Buxton haven't been given a day off, hopefully that can wait and be worked into the Baltimore series and then play the A lineup for all three in Houston.
  9. I was watching the game with my wife and basically said the same thing, telling her they should let Harper keep pitching since he looked so good. She told me I didn't know what I was talking about and that Mejia was coming in since he was already warming up. I took offense to her questioning my brilliant baseball mind :-), argued with her, and made some grandiose statements that if I was coaching our older sons college team they would be winning their conference and our younger sons high school team would be going to the playoffs if I was in charge. During the next half inning I had to go pick up our daughter from work and I got a text from her "Guess who's in the game pitching jackass" So I sat waiting for my daughter watching the game slip away on my phone and thinking about how I was going to rub it in for how right I was. Strangely it didn't feel good being right and man I wish they had won that game. Any time she questions me again for the rest of the season, I'm gonna have that one in my back pocket to use on her.
  10. Did autocorrect do that or could you just not come up with a good way to misspell Reed? :-)
  11. I'm not sure I understand your comment, are you trying to say that minor league baseball is the equivalent to college for a normal college student and the players should be happy they are getting paid rather than paying for that minor league education? Because no one would pay to get a college diploma if they knew they had only a 10% or less chance of getting a good paying job when they graduated and no one was paying for a ticket/hot dog/beer to come watch me take my calculus exams.
  12. Thanks for this interview. It's cool to hear his family history and how he got into acting. Goldbergs has been my favorite comedy show on tv for a while now and I was stoked to find out one of Eddie's kids was on it. The original Party of Five is where my wife and I got the idea for our daughters name, so I guess I'll have to check out the new one when it comes out, especially since Niko will be in it.
  13. I've lived in Amarillo for a while now and been to Midland/Odessa a handful of times. Given the choice, I would prefer to live in Amarillo by a wide margin. The Midland area is kind of dirty and somehow even flatter, windier, and more barren than Amarillo. The Midland ballpark is nice, but I'm sure the new one here in Amarillo will be even nicer. It would be cool if the Twins ended up here to get to watch the prospects, but I kind of like being only one of a couple Twins fans in the area. I don't know how I'd feel if a bunch of other Twins fans started sprouting up here.
  14. Definitely, I'm headed to Minnesota on Saturday for the Vikings game and the first couple Twins-Yankees games and was planning on going to the Gophers football game on Saturday night, but now that Berrios is pitching I'll be going to the Twins game instead.
  15. You must of had some bad luck, I've travelled to watch probably more than 100 baseball games in various places and have sat through a couple rain delays, but never had one postponed. Ironically, the only sporting event I didn't get to see was when I took my oldest son to see the Vikings for his 16th birthday and the dome collapsed.
  16. Leinenkugel has been available in North Texas aka the Panhandle for many years now. That's what happens when you get bought out by MillerCoors
  17. But 85 wins has been enough to win a division a few times in the last decade. The Indians play teams with a 0.500 record or better the rest of the month while the Twins get a bunch of games against the White Sox, Tigers, and Blue Jays, so I would hope they can pick up at least a few games and make September really fun. To heck with the second wild card, go take the division!
  18. According to BR Twins are 13-21 in blowouts (5+ runs) with 199 RS and 271 RA, so 35-25 and 229 RS vs 218 RA in all other games, so I guess they are outperforming a little in close games, but doesn't seem like a huge issue to me.
  19. It sure seems like it would be a good way for the penalized teams to work the system and lessen the pain. It seems like a better penalty would have been to slash those teams pools.
  20. I would assume it would be with a team under penalty, it seems that those teams would be hard pressed to spend all of their pools at 300k or less each and would probably get better prospects in return by trading some of the pool away. Sounds like a good strategy by the Red Sox. How much of a signing bonus would guys ranked in the 40-50 range be expected to get?
  21. I would suggest you go look through the MLB Draft Archives at their rankings for past seasons, Rooker and Leach aren't really much of a stretch. For example in 2012, Berrios was ranked 46th and drafted 32nd and there were 15 players ranked higher than him who were drafted after him, but only one or two of those 15 would I maybe want over Jose. The rankings after the top tier don't really mean all that much.
  22. I hope they don't take Scherff that early. Saw him pitch last month and expected to be way more impressed with someone ranked top 50ish prospect who was obviously way more physically developed than the competition. Plus something is fishy when you switch schools every year of HS career, plus switch college commitment.
