  1. While this is true, I believe Giminez will be added and called up this weekend.
  2. I predict that I least 1 Twins' player will need to switch dugouts during the Boston series.
  3. Reed only pitched 1 inning so he is definitely available for an inning today. With the day off tomorrow he could even be available for 2 innings today.
  4. I mentioned this in another thread, it isn't just the bunt that upset the Twins' players. The bunt was the 2nd of 2 contradictory actions that Baltimore committed in the 9th inning. In the top of the 9th, LaMarre got a 2 out hit. Baltimore elected to not hold the runner on implying that they are going to just play Defense and you better not steal with a 7-0 lead. Then in the bottom of the inning they bunt against the shift. What upset the players was that we were expected to NOT take advantage of their defensive positioning by not stealing 2nd base and they immediately took advantage of our defensive positioning by bunting to beat the shift in the same inning.
  5. I know they are chanting "Let's go O's", but the whole series I thought they were chanting "Let's go Home"
  6. This is not exactly true, as an arbitration eligible player his contract doesn't become guaranteed until Opening Day. There are 2 dates available during spring training where they can release an arbitration eligible player and only pay a portion of his salary (I believe if you release by the 1st date it is 45 days pay and the 2nd date is 90 days).
  7. I believe the answer is $0. He is signed to a Major league contract so he will make that no matter what.
  8. Twins still have to remove 2 players from the 25 man roster. Granite is probably 1.
  9. Maybe it has something to do with the "B12 cocktail" that the trainer's supply in the Dominican, and not the race of the player. As I recall, it is not just Dominicans being busted. Non-Dominican who have played in the DR winter league have also been busted.
  10. The fact that Vargas was Dead, the answer is yes. You only DAD a player when you need an immediate spot on the 40 man roster.
  11. While Santana's injury will keep him out until mid to late April, the nature of the injury will prevent him from throwing until then as well. Since he is missing all of Spring Training, he will way behind in his season prep. After he can throw, he will workout with the team for a couple of weeks and then go on a full 21 day rehab stint. I'd be surprised to see Santana pitching for the Twins before June.
  12. "I doubt players will want to give up their per game income." The players per game income would actually increase if the number of games decreased. Their salaries are determined by the year not by the number of games in the season.
  13. I agree with the Talent being diluted, especially in pitching. Think about it, at least 48% of every team is made up of pitching. Currently there are at least 360 pitchers on the MLB rosters if the add 2 more teams that would increase to 384. The talent pool from which to get players isn't growing and currently almost every team in league is looking for pitching. Unless they come out with a hard salary cap and true revenue sharing (which is impossible due to most of the broadcasting rights is local and not national unlike the NFL), you would end up with the high revenue teams being dominant since they can buy all of the top pitchers and the rest being in the middle of the pack.
  14. He had the bullpen warming up and if the Yankees would've kept on hitting Molitor would've made the switch, but Santana retire the next 2 batters after giving up the 3 run homer. Severino wasn't pulled until after the single and double following Rosario's 2 run dinger. 1 more hit and it would've been a 5 run lead with 1 out. Giardi had to pull Severino at that point.
