    Palacios was pulled early from the Kernals game- anyone know why?

    I know Granite is on a hot streak, but does he have any sustained success in the minors that would indicate he'll be a good player in the majors? Even after the last few games his OPS is only .800 this year and .777 in AAA, which is well above is minors career OPS of only .713. Not sure he'll hit enough to be a corner outfielder. Palacios looks like the real deal. He is only 20 and already dominating low A as a shortstop with legitimate pop in his bat. It looks like last year was a fluke and he was playing injured. If he can stay at short his upside is impressive and he should start getting attention on top 100 lists.

    Yeah my main point is that ideally a guys OPS would be more than basically double his average, no matter how limited he is as a hitter. I know he has had a decent walk rate in the minors in previous years, but his current average is not sustainable so hopefully he can get on base at a higher clip going forward.

    Also doesn't have a walk and only one XBH, so his OPS is still pretty underwhelming...

    This is more about Buxton's future than fighting for a wildcard spot with no pitching and inconsistent offense.

    Oh man, I was not really disregarding his hitting there. He is having an impressive season, but he is striking out at an incredible rate in AA. That won't get any better in the majors- it's not hard to see him striking out 40% of the time or more in the pros. Even Adam Dunn can't touch that, and Dunn walked a lot more. It's hard to see a guy with Walker's peripherals succeeding. Maybe he develops better plate discipline, but he is going to have too many at bats where he does nothing positive if he doesn't. He's also a couple of years older than Sano, which is important to factor in when you're comparing the two.

    Yeah, he reminds me of Joaquin Phoenix's character in Signs, who absolutely crushed home runs but struck out way too much to be a ball player.

    Suzuki is straight up bad at anything but blocking pitches in the dirt. It's incredible that this has kept him afloat, but I'd much rather see what Pinto has if we are going to be throwing out a dud on defense anyway. Suzuki is probably a lot better at calling/ controlling the game as well, which likely factors into things.

    Why doesn't Milone have a spot in a rotation somewhere? His career MLB ERA is right around 4, and that includes a year at 3.74 and half a year at 3.55. He's only 28 and seems like he should be a middle of the rotation guy, not in AAA.

    Sano has a 14.1 BB%. That is absolutely elite and would be his second highest number he's posted as a minor leaguer.

    Was definitely wondering about his velocity during the game...that radar gun was out of wack- I wish we had our own broadcasts for the Lookouts. Thanks for clearing that up.

    Complete game, 2 hit shutout. I think he did okay.

    Agreed. I'm watching, and he handled the 6th very well- just gave up a hit on a weakly hit ball to left. I'm pretty sure the radar gun is broken because it randomly flashes numbers like 134, but if not he's sitting around 88-90 with the fastball. Seems odd. He's at 71 after 6 and made it through the 8th last start. Good chance he does again, which is awesome.

    Berrios pitching an absolute gem through 5 innings so far. 0R, 1 H, 1 BB, 5 Ks and on only 55 pitches. Nice to see.

    Kepler! He is starting to hit and his OPS at 'Nooga is now .827. Exciting developments there.

    We actually did rough up Kazmir and Sale- our lineup has been super impressive. Hopefully they keep it up, and I agree our starters are pitching at an unsustainable rate.

    Just to clarify, I wasn't saying beating up on bad teams is a bad thing. That said, regardless of where they were projected before the season started Cleveland, Oakland, Seattle and ChiSox have not been playing good ball this year. From watching our games against them, they look terrible for the most part and were booting the ball all over the place. I'm not saying none of those teams will pick it up, but they are all at or near the bottom of their division and rightfully so- they have been not been playing well. We have hung in there against KC and Detroit, which is impressive, but we have a solid record largely (and obviously not entirely) due to the competition we've faced.

    It is still very early, haha. The Twins were 23-21 at one point last year. The "informed" fan might argue that they are pitching and hitting at an unsustainable rate lately, and due for regression to the mean. They could still finish 70-92, like last year, or 92-70. I'm certainly hoping for something like the latter, but the former is arguably more likely. They've been beating up on bad teams, which is what they are supposed to do, but this has been a very small sample size of games. That said, I am excited to see what can happen if they can tread water until the reinforcements come.

    Yeah he is probably going to need to show more patience to be a good hitting corner outfielder in the bigs, or pitchers will exploit him.

    After how wretched our outfield defense has been, how awesome would it be to have a (likely) above-average outfield defense in Hicks, Bucky and Rosario by the end of the season.

    As Eddie's adopter: Congrats Eddie! Excited to see how he performs in The Show. This guy has shown incredible flashes of talent, even if he wasn't tearing it up in AAA. I'm sure he is on top of the world. Hopefully he shows he belongs, but if he doesn't he's only 23 and it certainly would not hurt his potential.

    His BABIP is .156 this year, which seems crazy low for a guy as powerful as he is. People have been saying he's been getting loud outs this year, and I believe he's had terrible luck to go with the rust. I think it is only a matter of time until his numbers come up big time, and the fact that his OPS is .705 given his low BABIP is impressive and encouraging.

    Shoot I really wanted Gonsalves, but if he is taken Eddie Rosario would be a nice consolation...
