IowaTwin346's Achievements

  1. And most importantly, what’s gotten into Kyle Gibson? I picture Mike McGrevey walking away saying "A multi year deal worth big bucks, that's what"
  2. The problem with fan voting is people look at BA and home runs. That is what they list on the ballot along with RBI. People look vote for the players they know, cheer for or at quick glance down the comparison have higher avg/HR I think Perk is the slam dunk especially being there a couple times already. I also, like others think that Plouffe and Dozier are deserving. I think if the Twins continue to play like they have they will have at least one guy going along with Perk, hopefully two.
  3. I would love for ole Fanatic Jack from Twitter to see your rankings. His hate for Plouffe is comical, but he disappeared from Twitter last season. I hope he comes back for some entertainment. I am sure any of you that are on Twitter have seen a rant or two from him followed by some nice A** kissing of players like Suzuki
  4. This is a much better problem to have than the PJ Walters, Cole DeVries, Scott Diamond, Andrew Albers, Pedro Hernandez type rotations that were trotted out the last few years. I would rather have the problem of "the Twins have too many guys", than, "Who started?"
  5. This would be my number one pick for manager. I know it doesnt turn the team around magically but I would love this hire. A true outside with a forward way of thinking and a change that this organization could use. I know everyone is pointing every other direction for where he might go instead of Minnesota, but get it done Terry Give him "a 3-year deal, 18 million, a house, a golf membership at fair oaks, a dog, and a ferarri testarossa." That deal has been on the table since Rickey Henderson turned it down in 1994 in Little Big League And for the record I dont think this happens, but it is fun to dream
  6. I like the list and like that there are more hard throwing guys than there have been in the past. Like you mentioned injuries hampered a lot their seasons so it will be interesting/fun to watch how they bounce back. One thing I noticed is you have a few guys starting in New Britain in 2014. Should be Chattanooga in 2015 right?
  7. I honestly am pretty stunned that this happened. I have always been a big Gardy supporter and am somewhat dissappointed to see him go, but this is one of those things where it needed to be done. I dont blame him for the last four seasons. No one was going to win with Nishi, two dudes named Rene and a staff of PJ Walters and Cole DeVries types trotting out each night. The last four years have been rough and I dont think firing Gardy is going to make next year the year to be back. I expect some struggles from prospects but at least its prospects and not jersey fillers. I also think Gardy was just kind of used over the past 4 years. Ownership could see the losses coming and would rather have him stay than go through a mangerial change and do it all again when it didnt work in 3 years. To people saying the Twins dont have loyalty is laughable. They brought back Bill Smith and reassigned asst coaches who werent doing well to another coaching position instead of firing them for Christ's sake I hope Gardy gets another chance and I think he will and he will probably win elsewhere but with the youth movement coming I would like to see Dougie or a younger voice in the clubhouse or an outsider altogether.
  8. For me when Kirby had to retire it was devestating. While I was only 7 at the time, I grew up glued to the TV watching VHS tapes of the 87 and 91 world series. My dad always told me during the middle of winter I wanted to watch baseball and so he popped in those tapes. He was immediately my favorite player. When all of the negative events and issues started coming to light my friends thought it was fun to give me crap that my favorite player and who he was off the field. It was then I realized he was my favorite baseball player, but I had never claimed he was my favorite person. When he passed away I was a Junior in high school and I remember my now wife, not understanding why I was upset. Had all of the negative aspects of his life and the abuse/sexual assault stuff been out it probably would have been different, but I wore 34 because of his play, not because of him as a person. That being said I will never tell my son to be like him, but if he wants to play like him I dont think I would have a problem with that.
