  1. He pretty much has to move given his contract status, his age, our pitching staff, and his streaky play.
  2. A perfect storm of a lack of talent, overuse due to poor starting pitching, and a manager who didn't play the odds well.
  3. I think waiting is dangerous. Dozier had two years left and 1 plus 2 months at the deadline. Plus he has been streaky. I think his value erodes from here. Even if he plays well the amount of time he gets falls.
  4. If Reyes is off the table I would rather have DeLeon than a package built around the 75th best prospect who projects as a third starter. We need quality not quantity.
  5. Yeah. This is the Mets deal with Johan. The press reported the deal and we waited and hoped we could find a better deal. Then the same deal went through We have to trade Dozier and the Dodgers know it. To those who say wait to the deadline, a quarter of his time would be gone and if he struggles his value erodes by a ton. If he is at .240 and 8 HR at the deadline we aren't getting DeLeon.
  6. This reminds me of the Johan to the Mets deal. We all knew it was coming but lingered because the Twins were shopping the offer. If you can a young, controlled pitcher who is better than Berrios strikes guys out you take it.
  7. Very fun. I think the true winner would not technically be the worst player but the worst player to play a lot and hurt the team the most. Like Danny Santana.
  8. What remains to be seen for me is how will these guys pitch in the big leagues. What we have seen out of this organization is what looks like from afar anyways, is a failure to have minor leaguers work in what their MLB flaws are going to be. You put up good minor league numbers and you move up. I think that will change for guys in the lower ranks but I think we have seen delays for guys like Buxton and Berrios.
  9. Has the new leadership team made any comments about May? Their are a few items I will use to gauge the new front office. May starting is one. They nailed letting Plouffe go and hopefully get a haul for Dozier.
  10. The best quote in the article was easily "Robbie Grossmans best defensive position is DH". That was a classic. This roster is very similar to last years roster, so that is tough to be super excited but I guess most of the roster spots will hopefully he claimed by young guys. Having said that, I hope the new team looks at the numbers and some take and makes some tweaks to this roster. Like Danny Santana for one
  11. Fair point Mr.Brooks. I do hope that with Sale off the board, teams focus on Dozier.
  12. Oh yeah. Barry Bonds didn't peak at 27-30. So we should expect the same out of Dozier.
  13. I hope the Twins aren't approaching these discussions with the assumption that a team like the Dodgers has any untouchable players. Dozier has been worth nearly 20 WAR the last four years and is coming off a 40 HR year at 2B. And he doesn't make much or have veto rights.
  14. Dozier checks all the boxes for why you would trade a guy. Bad team. A deep need at another position (pitching). Will be over 30 when we are good again. A replacement in the wings. And he would cost an absolute fortune at non peak years if we extended him.
  15. Bringing back Puig would be an all too familiar Ryan-Esque move that lacks commitment to a strategy. Unless he is viewed as a deadline flip of course.
  16. My other thought is I don't know why Puig would be a fit. An under performing OF with a larger contract would seem to be the last type of guy we would want
  17. The new GM and President have not talked to the best player over the last few years? A guy getting MVP votes? That is all you need to know My Twins source thinks he moves at or shortly after the winter meetings
  18. Agree completely DieHard. This whole process of feeling out what the defense will give you. Is it inside today? Outside? Low. It is really silly.
  19. I really like this signing. I think we get an upgrade at C that will help our staff. Not a huge commitment. Not blocking anyone. It looks like we are valuing defense and believing in platooning.
  20. I have a few issues. Our rotation is terrible and that makes us a long ways from being one key reliever away. The other is that he hasn't been very good out there and wasn't given a chance as a starter. Especially since his frame and four pitches typically bodes well as a starter.
  21. Is anyone else optimistic about platooning suggestions that actually have a chance to be implemented? If we do go a one or two year route on a veteran I would like to see it accompanied with a move to acquire a catcher in the minors. Their has to be a team out there who has depth and would want one of our million prospects. I am not comfortable with handing Turner/Garver the reins.
