  1. It has been quite a few years since I have heard my fellow Twins fans scheming playoff scenarios in February. Life is great.
  2. I am drunk on free agent signings and high profile trades. Wake me up in July. I hope I don't have a hangover.
  3. I just hope his entry song as he comes from the bullpen is "Hungry Like a Wolf". I have already dubbed him Duran Duran.
  4. Lots of "good" prospects is redundant. Translate them into some "good" MLB talent. and make a run. The Vikings made me forget about the sweep. Let's go!
  5. Let it rain. Get in a position to buy at the deadline, and add some Astros/Red Sox pitchers.
  6. Right field should have some options if Cave can't get it going. I heard we have some guys...
  7. Now that the FO has their preferred type of manager, the early results are positive to say the least. Are there any advanced metrics to predict how sustainable Baldelli's success will be? Is manager evaluation still a gut feeling or is there a science we can leverage? I am asking for a friend.
  8. How about a "grade the trades" for the current GM's era. Maybe grade some low risk pick ups that panned out. Free agent pick ups too?
  9. I understand your point. I disagree with the question. It's about wins and losses. Harper=more wins. Metrics can prove what the designer wants. Wins are wins.
  10. I love the new statistical evaluation methods used today, but they have limits. To argue Harper does not make this team better and more exciting to watch illustrates the limits. Has anyone run any metrics on Kirby Puckett and Kent Hrbek lately. Please explain to me why they heck they won 2!
  11. I don't think Machado is a winner. Harper please.
  12. Baseball econ question: What if players made a base salary based on service time that peaked out at 7 years (for example...year 1 games $1 m, capping out at year 7 games at $3 m, going back down to $1 m at 10 years). Then put performance metrics out there for the rest of the pay after year 1. Make it so virtually an above average player should have no problem getting above double the base. Big performers can rake. Does it work in a formerly capitalist country? ha.
  13. I am back...I would say Harper makes our pitchers better because they can pitch from a lead more often. It sounds like a moot point now anyway. I think he would make everyone better in a place like this.
  14. I agree with Danchat. Buch is the only option I would like to consider. With payroll so low, go get someone with a high floor.
  15. A bench/DH bat like Austin should make the team. When that guy connects, he is a difference maker. Nelson Cruz would be an upgrade for a couple of years, probably. I could live with that. I just want the Twins to contend for the Central Division.
  16. If we have a chance to get Harper, we should take it. Period. He makes all our pitchers better. We have the room to do it with Mauer out of the payroll. I have never wanted a "superstar" free agent, until Harper.
  17. Scott Boras is a great agent. That's all I have good to say. How about those Twins!
  18. Whoa Camel!!! I share the enthusiasm. That was an awesome first series! Impressive starting pitching. Impressive hitting. The moves this spring look great so far, but the notion of intelligent design has yet to be proven. Next up, Lance Lynn!!
  19. Adrianza at SS and Escobar at 3rd doesn't bother me if it is short term. That configuration will deliver great defense and save some runs. Logan Morrison at DH looms large.
  20. Alex Cobb please.

  21. I am kind of rough, so I prefer Cobb. 3 years @ $13 m per year.
