  1. Loosey, loved your blog. You articulated very well a feeling I've also felt. It is pride in being a Twin's fan again. I got so sick of all the jabs from family and friends about how the "Twins suck" for the last year. The team was mostly unwatchable in April and May. But, as of late, they have shown us many positives. We still need starting pitching desperately, but I like the nucleus of this team. I haven't gone to a game since May, but I'm going next week. Detroit--a little scary. But, I'm enjoying being a Twin's fan again.
  2. Snarky is a nice word to use for the comments that I read this morning at the Strib.com site. I actually didn't comment on any of the articles. I really don't know what to say and don't want to be overly negative. I was at the game on Thurs. afternoon with my son. It was such a beautiful day, we had great seats, and Liriano just bombed...we were down, but then Joe hit the three run homer and things just started rolling. It ended up being a very enjoyable game and we certainly had a good time. I get sick of these armchair GM wannabes who KNOW EVERYTHING and want Gardy and his staff fired and assert that Terry Ryan knows nothing about baseball. It just rubs me wrong. Yeah, we get frustrated (okay, we get REALLY TICKED) with our guys when they leave all those men on base, but it's not like they are doing it on purpose. They are doing the best they can in that moment. Sure, we'd like the Twins to win every game, make the playoffs every year, never lose to the Yankees, and win the World Series every five years or so, BUT that is not realistic. I love the Twins and this year I just want them to do better than they did last year. A .500 season would be a victory for me.
  3. 1. Going to my first game at Metropolitan Stadium and sitting in the outfield bleachers, and watching Harmon Killebrew hit a home run. 2. The 1991 World Series. 3. The 1987 World Series 4. The 1965 World Series, and crying after we lost game 7 to the Dodgers. 5. Taking my dad to our first game at Target Field (Mauer got his MVP Award that day.) 6. Watching Torii Hunter make many spectacular plays in the outfield. 7. Watching Kirby hustle (even in meaningless spring training games.) 8. Crying HARD when Kirby had to retire 9. Watching Rod Carew steal home. 10. Watching Tony O hit the ball.
  4. I was at the game yesterday with my son. We were pretty depressed early on, and then the HITTING PARADE began. I saw it live and still don't believe what I saw...absolutely amazing. I knew these guys could hit better than the first four games showed, but I never expected 20 hits including three blasts. I, too, am worried about defense...love Willingham, but he seems a little lost in the outfield, as does Plouffe. I like Carroll at short. I just watched the Texas outfielders make two outstanding plays in the first two innings, the kind Torii made back in the day. I am a little confused about the $6.5 million that Baker will earn this year for not pitching...do the Twins have an insurance policy on his arm? Can't they go out a try to find a starter somewhere?
  5. Let's hope his perseverance pays off...I'll be rooting for him!
  6. I, too, like this group of hitters. Can't wait to see who will break out...now, if we could just feel as good about our pitching staff.
