  1. Is this one of those rain delays where it's not actually raining and not going to rain until about 9:30 but they will wait it out for a couple hours then get tired of waiting it out because it's not actually raining so they start the game at 9:30 since it's not raining...and then it rains in the third inning? Is this one of those?
  2. In my opinion it is the veterans who are underperforming. I don't know what makes Molitor tick. A couple times last week he batted Murphy 8th, and Eduardo Nunez 9th. Nunez has been our best, most consistent hitter. He was hitting last. Nunez's batting average was literally .300 points higher than Murphy's average yet Murphy was hitting above him. I am perfectly willing to watch the prospects make a few mistakes and learn the game. These guys are in their early 20s. Dumb base running mistakes is part of the process, as long as the coaching is sound and the players learn from it. The game is faster in MLB. Sano is not letting me down. He hit a pop up almost to the center field warning track in the 8th today. A couple millimeters down the bat barrel and it's a long home run and tie game. As you said, he is making good contact, and those will even out.
  3. Maybe he didn't do anything with the chances he got, but I disagree he got every chance and then some. The Twins tried to make him into a corner outfielder at one point. Because of his big bat I am assuming. He didn't even catch in 2014 (one MLB inning the entire season). Even in Rochester in 2014 he played more outfield than catcher. Now if they had ever traded him at any point during that stretch, they probably would have gotten no more than Palka anyway. But just to play the hindsight card, it would be nice to have some good catching here right now, instead of another strikeout prone outfield prospect in the minors. So far, Herrmann is playing in Arizona twice as much as he played here, give or take.
  4. I wouldn't know. I will take your word for it. Small sample of course. Maybe he just needed a change of scene.
  5. Speaking of Herrmann. He hit a game winning home run today. Now I wonder if he got a fair look here. He seems to be doing well with more regular playing time.
  6. The owner calls his own franchise a "total system failure." When was the last time a team with total system failure made a deep postseason run?
  7. The Twins would never shop Mauer, and Mauer is a 10/5 guy who can refuse a trade. Mauer has been really good this year, both at the plate and in the field. Otherwise yes. Time to sell.
  8. You make a really good point about the prospects who have won championships in the minors. I don't think guys like that care about having veterans around or feel a veteran will teach them to win. I disagree with some of your conclusions on personnel (like Pressly) but agree that fixing this shouldn't be that complicated. Just play the best guys and play them in their positions. Unfortunately the Twins are needlessly making this look complicated.
  9. You are vastly overstating Meyer's struggles and ignoring times he has been very good.
  10. This only shows me that Meyer handles a demotion more maturely than a Pelfrey or Nolasco. May and Milone have handled demotions well, too. Is it time to think about a demotion for Hughes?
  11. ump was squeezing the strike zone (for both teams). Berrios dropped a nice curve in for strike three. Called a ball. The rest is history.
  12. what happened to Suzuki? did he take a foul off his shin or something?
  13. Jerry Layne's list of most important people in the history of baseball, according to Jerry Layne: 3. Babe Ruth 2. Jackie Robinson 1. Jerry Layne
  14. That hill in center field made Park's triple look like a golf shot, high 8 iron, good flight, takes a nice bounce, settles in the rough behind a tree....I loved it, personally.
  15. 2-0 to Santana. Keuchel has now missed the strike zone on 87 consecutive pitches.
  16. If only his catching was as good as his ability to keep up with the Game Thread live during his at bat, we might be on to something.
