  1. Agree with all of this. Especially on Arcia's attitude. Lots of energy and overconfidence which rubbed many people the wrong way. I'm not in the clubhouse but I never sensed it crossed the line. Arcia was always one of the guys holding the Gatorade bucket after fun wins. Always on the top step wanting his teammates to succeed. In three years he went from snapping bats over his knee to not snapping bats over his knee. That's maturity right there. Without knowing for sure, I will guess that Arcia was the closest thing we had to a Torii Hunter after Hunter left. I will miss him!
  2. Yep. It will feel like a huge win when Sano is finally taken out of the outfield when really it's just the correction of a mistake, though arguably it was worth trying.
  3. Don't give up yet..... at least wait until Plouffe gets signed long term and Sano banished to the outfield forever
  4. It was a minor point and it's not likely there will be a situation to PH him even if he's DH, but in my opinion playing him at first was the third best option out of the three options tonight. #sigh
  5. No I agree, but we got Liriano while he was still in A ball. Santana is a little different like you said, but the Twins did have him for long enough before he was dominant that you could give them some credit depending on what you are discussing. It's pretty telling that they used Johan from the bullpen for so long, but refuse to use Berrios or Meyer from the bullpen and used May in the bullpen for the wrong reasons (my opinion).
  6. Things we pay Paul Molitor to think about, part eleventy million: Don't play Park at first base if he's never faced a knuckleballer. Play him at DH like you usually do. If he turns out to be helpless at the plate, you can easily sub him out if he is DH. You cannot easily substitute him if he is in the field, especially if your other first baseman is the DH (you will lose your DH, etc). Or better yet, bench him. #ThingsforNextYear
  7. I heard the applause over the radio, and figured they showed Jim Pohlad on the jumbotron.
  8. The inability to develop a single starting pitcher is a huge concern. I guess Scott Baker would be the last one who came up and had any sort of sustainable success. One pitcher in 10 years. You could probably include Garza, Liriano and Santana but then you're getting pretty far back. And they have apparently lost all interest in Trevor May ever starting again.
  9. How signable is Kirilloff? What happens if they can't or don't sign him?
  10. Agree, but what a fine line it is trying to know if a guy's edginess would lead to destructiveness. However, some guys like Johnny Manziel (who Kohl Stewart actually went to school with) are just patently easy to identify and avoid. Or I think they almost went to school together?
  11. Really interesting that Sedlock and Hudson have nearly identical stat lines in college. With only one season as starter and relief their first two seasons. I wonder when the Twins started putting scouting eyes on them? Is there StatCast type of data they have access to?
  12. I say the Twins should lobby the Kansas City manager to get Polanco on the All Star Team. They could activate Polanco for the game and then send him back to the minors the day after.
  13. It seems contradictory to me that the Twins are willing to receive cash in a trade, but not offer cash in a trade. What am I missing?
  14. So the Mets have been shopping for guys who can play corner infield. This is pretty disappointing.
  15. It could definitely use some clarification and tightening in places, but I wasn't trying to make it about Rosario's demotion. Did Molitor treat the Plouffe and Rosario situations differently? Yes, in my mind he did. Throw in the Danny Santana mistake the next night for good measure. Danny was out there trying to do too much and made an honest mistake. Plouffe thinks he's faster than he really is and I had a talk with him. But Rosario just somehow blew Molitor's fuse. I wonder if Molitor is letting his personal feelings for certain players distort his judgment. I bet he is. But you can't really come out and say that without presenting some evidence for it.
  16. Usually mentioning the White Sox makes any thread NSFW, but posting photos of White Sox players half naked takes it to a whole new level.
