  1. Enjoyable all around to see Gibson dominate while his Rays counterpart lost the zone, of which Twins bats took advantage. And the baserunning! Wow! This team is capable of good baseball. We're back inside a week of the Tribe. If Romero, Santana, and Sano get off the shelf, anything can happen.
  2. Enjoying all the good commentary. My 2 cents.... This team has shown remarkable resilience, but also an equally remarkable ability to be just good enough to lose. All the walk-off and one-run defeats and almost comebacks take a toll. Still, a nice run of solid games leading up to the break may be just the ticket to heating up the batting and pitching stats and chalking up Ws more often than not.
  3. "I can't believe I didn't have Bobby Wilson on my fantasy team." Said no one ever. Still, nice knocks to go along with fielding from the Caveman and Mr. Polanco. (That game-ending pick in the hole was a thing of beauty.)
  4. Whew! I was worried there. Just when I was beginning to think the Twins were a terrible team, the Orioles came to town and showed us what terrible really means.
  5. Just curious.... Did you know Eddie Mathews? I saw the Tigers play in 1968 but Eddie only came to the plate 50-some times that season, so never saw him take any swings.
  6. Same as Mr. Froemming, I turned off the game in the 8th with EE at the dish. Worked like a charm. Woke up this a.m. with a win. Better, it was a win I'd already counted as a loss going in. Still, a hot streak by all the bats and 12 or 13 wins in a row would really do me good at this point.
  7. It's a day later and my face hurts from smiling ear to ear the whole time. Why does a kids' game have this effect?
  8. The Twins look like a team that is still learning how to win, and games like the last two weeks can go a long way. The losses have mostly come down to one AB, one pitch. Even the almost-comeback games would have landed in the win column with one more swing, one more wicked sinker. Bottom line: Don't give up on this bunch yet.
  9. I agree. But we shouldn't deny ourselves happiness for finally putting up several good at-bats in a row..
  10. I'll echo what most posters have said in various ways: I hope Mr. Hughes latches on somewhere and wins Comeback Player of the Year.
  11. Now that he's not tipping his pitches, he's doing fine. And I really liked the bats coming through at the right moments. But a laugher in our favor would be nice.
  12. No worries here. Twins are 18-20 and showing signs of consistently putting together good games. I prefer being mildly disappointed to the nervousness of last year, when they were 21-17 and every time out we all wondered when the wheels were going to come off. Starters look good. Bullpen is reliable, if unspectacular. And the hitting will come around. Heck, Morrison is ready to top the Mendoza line. For me, I enjoy every game as they unfold and see real potential for a breakout, much like Cleveland last summer. Play ball!
  13. Buxton is such a disrupter on the basepaths and a game-saver in the field. That frustrates opponents mightily and lifts his teammates, the consequence being we win close games more often. Buck's in the other team's heads so much, MLB wants to make him pay rent.
  14. Yep. I got a stern talking to from the TD moderators for one too many gosh-darns.
  15. Love winning streaks. But the absolute best five-game streak will be winning the seventh game of the ALC at Yankee Stadium, then sweeping the Cubs in the World Series.
  16. So much to like, but can't help but wonder how the game would have gone without Rosario's terrific catch. Can you make a game-saving play in the first inning? I say, "Absolutely!"
