  1. I started tuning this team out over a week ago after the pathetic showing in Anaheim. Looks like that was for the best. I think it's going to be checking this site once a week for the next couple months and a glance at the final scores when the notification pops up on my phone.... Better things to do with a world that's reopening.
  2. Reposting this from an earlier comment, because apparently the sands of time imagery is speaking to us all...
  3. I started watching this team while I was a teenager in 2002, after I'd moved to Minnesota the summer before high school and had nothing else to do. They went to the ALCS that year and had no real business being there and they captured my imagination. I am now in my mid-30s and I have been following them ever since. Grown up, in the middle of a career, I have children, a house. My life progresses and yet this Twins team does not. While everything changes around me all the time, there is one thing I can count on. The Twins will be a disappointment. They will make you wonder why you spend all your time and energy on it. But, same as every other damn year, I will watch it again the next. The seasons will pass, sun will rise and set, tides will roll in and out, and the Twins will still suck. See you all next spring.
  4. I'm sorry but unless you're being sentimental this is Nathan without question.
  5. I was at this game! Wahoo home opener! Stadium is just as nice as everyone says and seats are right on top of the field even more so than an average minor league venue. Alcala did not look great after the first couple innings and seemed to be working in the lower 90s despite what I've heard about his velocity, and that gift strikeout you refer to was definitely that, but I will say Brian Schales absolutely smoked the ball every time he was up. He's a nonprospect they got from Miami? as far as I know but certainly outshined the rest of the lineup on that particular evening.
  6. Weren't there more logical choices to DFA ahead of De Jong though? I'll just leave these first couple comments from the mlbtr post here: nmendoza7 Tyler Duffey is absolutely blackmailing someone hrbekrules He has got some sketchy pictures Falvey for sure!
  7. A touching, heartfelt, and fitting bon voyage for Joe! #singlesarethenewhomers and GIDP's are just run scoring doubles that never got their wings. One of St. Paul's finest! I feel comfortable putting him above FSF with his two good books, but he's no Mitch Hedberg, let's be honest. JM is an all time great Minnesotan. And I went to high school with one of his cousins, so I consider this a personal matter. I also appreciate that none of his relations ever tried to sell me a car. Thank you #7!
  8. Twins look like they taking your advice. There is nobody good on this team! If you're pinning your hopes on Eduardo Escobar (and he has been very good) well - that speaks for itself. Sano in particular has disappointed me. He had a lot of potential.
  9. The Twins are objectively one of the worst teams in baseball (8th worst currently.) They are bad on paper and they are bad on the eyeballs. KC already started selling off the Twins would be wise to do the same.
  10. Twins have now won exactly once in the last TWO WEEKS and both the Wild and Wolves got embarrassed out of the playoffs in that span. Good times. Guess I know how Browns fans feel now.
  11. He knew what he was doing. They all say some version of that when they get caught. Why they still think they can get away with it is the real question.
  12. Not sure how Busenitz isn't at least as much of a lock as Rogers, or Duffey for that matter.
  13. This was the type of stuff that got Cleveland and Texas so good and that the twins never have done well (that is, for example, taking advantage of the Ohtani situation to void Marte -and don't tell me they didnt- and leverage the money to sign a couple more-advanced C+/B- Prospects.) This probably isn't going to move the needle much on its own, but here and there these types of things will payoff. Sounds better than the pet projects Terry Ryan couldn't give up on after half a decade or more
  14. I legitimately would forget May was on the roster from time to time this year, then remember, and feel a little better about things. Bullpen or not, I think he's going to be a piece next year.
