  1. 4 runs is a bit greedy, no? I'm sure 1 would have been enough for Price.
  2. West coast games are great for us as I can justify a lunch time beer while watching the game. By the way, wishing you all a happy ANZAC Day. Today marks 100 years since the Gallipolli landings in WW1. Thoughts and thanks to all who served, wherever they are, on what is a special day for Australians.
  3. Doesn't Suzuki call an inordinate amount of fastballs compared to other catchers? Wonder if there is a case for pairing Nolasco with Pinto (assuming he comes up in a couple of weeks)
  4. Suzuki: .265/.320/.360 (.680 OPS) in 120 games, just enough in management's eyes to keep Pinto marginalised, much to the annoyance of many TDers. I'd rank them Gomes, Perez, Suzuki, Avila, Flowers
  5. I thought we got him for my Adopt-a-Prospect last year - Miguel Sulbaran. Maybe I should embrace Nunez as this year's Adopt-a-Journeyman
  6. Count me with Chief being nervous as to Rosario's attitude/application. Slightly off topic, Chattanooga could have a spectacular line up at least early in the season this year. Imagine: Polanco SS Rosario LF Buxton CF Sano 3B Walker RF Kepler 1B Harrison DH Michael 2B Turner C Berrios starting with Reed setting up for Burdi. Almost worth a road trip, even from Australia!
  7. Sano could probably put up numbers similar to Arcia this year if he went north out of spring training - low avg, lots of Ks, plenty of power, questionable defence. If there wasn't a solid 3B option ahead of him I'd say bring him up and let him learn on the job. Plouffe is a solid option though, and there's no harm in giving Sano a couple of months in AAA to get the rust off that surgically repaired elbow, get some confidence he can make all the plays he needs to from hot corner and blow away AAA pitching before bringing him up, hopefully for good. It may sound counter-intuitive given Buxton has barely hit a ball above A+, but I would have more confidence in him contributing from the get go, if only with the glove and on the base paths in the first instance before his bat catches up (which I'm sure it would). TBH though I don't see either of them breaking camp with the MLB club. If I was betting, I'd guess we'll see Sano at end May/early June and Buxton after the All Star break.
  8. The right move, but hard to make all the same. I'm not surprised though. Maybe these are not [Jim's] father's Twins after all. All of the coaches going is a sign of collective responsibility on the part of the whole bench team. The new guy will have an opportunity to bring some back, and I'd expect at least Bruno and maybe Cuellar for a bit of continuity. I can't see any way Anderson comes back. I've said before I think this group of emerging players needs a new voice in the clubhouse. If that's an internal candidate my choice would be Dougie Baseball. If they go outside I'd hope they get Dave Martinez. Either of those guys would be fine by me. As others have said, very classy on all parts on how this has been handled.
  9. I don't think Gardy has been a bad manager over the length of his tenure, but the team seems to be at a tipping point right now where there is an opportunity for a fresh voice in the clubhouse to bring a new team together. Santana, Vargas, Pinto, Arcia, Hicks and in time Buxton, Sano, Polanco, Meyer, Berrios - it would be great for this group to grow together without a coaching staff burdened with 4+ years of 90+ losses. That's why I'd like to see Mientkiewicz come in and grow with them, or failing that someone like Redmond. The club keeps the "Minnesota nice" feeling of having some continuity with a former player at the helm (not so important for me, but maybe for Ownership or the FO), but they also get a fresh start in the dugout. Open to suggestions for a new pitching coach, but I really think Anderson is past his use by date with this group of players.
