Mr. Brooks's Achievements

  1. The study was either wrong, or you misremembered it. Of course a heavier bat will hit a ball further at the same bat speed than a lighter bat, it's basically physics 101.
  2. As far as I've read/heard, they don't know yet whether the summer weather will affect Covid19.
  3. If it's truly only measuring hitting, with zero positional adjustment, I think a pretty strong case can be made for Hrbek over Mauer.
  4. I don't doubt the timeline for a vaccine. I mean they are going to have to come up with an alternative mid to long term plan while we wait for the vaccine. Locking everyone down for longer than a few weeks literally isn't sustainable. Not socially, and definitely not economically.
  5. There is only harm in that if in fact your rejection of them not wanting to mix social classes is indeed false. Since they don't allow the "unwashed masses" to fill those seats, perhaps that speaks for itself.
  6. If it's going to be 18 months before a vaccine is ready, they are going to have to come up with an alternative plan. Short term, locking down is a good solution. It's not sustainable to lock everyone in their homes for 18 months though.
  7. I don't think that's what the writer is saying. He specifically writes this: "Every hitter’s approach needs to be neatly tailored to their skill set, and Kepler, Arráez, and Garver nicely demonstrate the flexibility of the Twins’ individual plans for their hitters these days. They don’t need to make major adjustments in the way they approach the first pitch." Aggressive does not mean they have to swing. It just means they should be ready to swing if they get a good pitch.
  8. Which schools? Do you have a link to that? Cancelling the next 18 months of school sounds like jumping the gun, more than just a bit.
  9. If MLB decided to stretch the season to 200 games, would you be in favor of retroactively lengthening Pineda's suspension?
  10. I believe when a suspension overlaps multiple seasons, only the first postseason is ineligible.
  11. By definition a smaller sample size will always have more variance.
  12. Who (or what) is Peter in this analogy?Because in addition to his power gains, he also posted career highs in BA and OBP, without increasing his K rate.
  13. If they give him credit for games that everyone is missing, then how is that fair to the players who didn't get caught cheating? How is that a punishment? "Your punishment is to miss the same games that every player is missing." Huh? I just can't disagree more.
  14. But the only way you keep infection rates as low as your example suggests is by taking the drastic measures that you consider "panicking".
