  1. I used to be a mega-fan, commonly listened to nearly every game on the radio and - as is likely the case with most in the Twins Daily community - could name most minor leaguers and for sure every member of the active roster, including most of their stats. Despite that, last season I only watched/listened to parts of about 3 games. I just generally lost interest due to the shutdown teaching me I didn't really need sports, plus the Twins/baseball getting political, plus the rule changes. I still check in from time to time (hence my comment here) but I've gone from checking Twins Daily everyday (no pun intended) to once every few weeks. Get the game back to what it previously was and I might come back...
  2. One positive byproduct of Maeda being a Twin is that hopefully it helps crack the door open for new Japanese talent to come here. I have no idea to what extent having a fellow countryman on a team would matter, but I would imagine it's a positive. There appear to be a healthy number of higher-end Japanese players coming to the states in the next year or two. https://www.fantasypros.com/2020/02/2020-mlb-top-international-prospects/
  3. Would like both of these a heck of a lot better if there were reasonably priced team options for 2021 attached. I suppose I'm happy in the sense that there appears to be reason for hope that these turn out to be bargains (even if the odds don't seem really high).
  4. Completely agree.... though I must admit I'm very much looking forward to seeing the shiny new participation trophy sitting next to the 87 and 91 world championship trophies during my next visit to Target Field.
  5. Or we take on the Ian Desmond contract along with Gray and give them just 1 or 2 of the 4. We then non-tender Cron.
  6. Do you think the Royals version of this site had their headline say something like, "Royals swept in an unfortunate Smeltzing accident."?
  7. What should we be expecting from Ober in the future? I mean, does his stuff indicate a future of domination such as he's put up in the minors this year? I seem to recall a number of minor league pitchers who fizzled out (I believe Scott Diamond was one of them?) despite killing it against lesser competition.
  8. I love that we have a player with 4 first names (Willy Joe Garry Junior). It's a battle between him and Badoo for best name in the system, IMHO.
  9. Yeah, you're likely right. Though, to be fair, due to pro-ration it would be a lot less. Additionally, I'm guessing Strasburg opts out this offseason, so the future allotment would also be a lot less. With that being said, it was just a pie-in-the-sky thought...
  10. Completely agree, though that's not to say I think they should be actively looking to trade them. However, if Washington - just as a made-up example - were willing to give up Strasburg for one of the three plus a mid-tier prospect, wouldn't that be pretty appealing? Or even one of them straight up for Scherzer (or some real reckless speculation here: Strasburg and Scherzer for 2 of the 3, plus 2-3 mid-tier prospects). Our lineup backing up Scherzer/Strasburg, Berrios, Perez in a short playoff series inspires a lot more confidence than Berrios, Perez, Gibson/Odo.
  11. Ummmm....kind of an inconsequential comment here but Baldelli isn't even a millennial according to some definitions (e.g. US Census Bureau).
  12. There is another Nationals pitcher they could target should Washington continue to struggle: Strasburg. He has an opt out.
  13. I wonder if the Twins could work out some sort of trade with Atlanta, as the Braves appear to have a ton of pitching prospect depth and not much in the middle infield. e.g. Gordon for Bryse Wilson?
  14. They were sniped by the marlins (Johnson) and another team (don’t know which) on their first and second targets for their round 2 pick, with overslot offers to both. Full disclosure, secondhand sourcing here (friend of a friend in the org.).
  15. I've always had this thought that for someone to get into the HOF he should have to have been generally regarded - or at least have a reasonable argument - as being the best player in the game at his position for some healthy amount of time (not very scientific, I know), in additional to the lifetime stats, postseason results, etc. For this reason I think Johan belongs in (definitely best in 2006, in the conversation in 2005, and probably best in 2004) but just don't think Morris or Blyleven - among others - should be in.
  16. Probably doesn't qualify for this list due to being traded/DFA'd mid-season (if I recall correctly...and yeah, too lazy to google it) but I'd like to offer up the name of one Butch Huskey.
  17. Largely agree on both points. Although to be fair you are incorrect that these players making this amount of income are paying uncle sam. After standard deduction, personal exemption, and earned income tax credit it is unlikely any of them have a tax bill.
