  1. I was too young to remember his great years. I remember getting his bb card often in 1977. I swear to god he was in about every 4th pack I would buy. Having a 50/50 record on those Twins teams was actually really good , they were not much of a winning teams those years. Had he been pitching for say the Yankees or Reds he would have probably won 75% of his starts.
  2. A hard NO to the May trade proposal. Just go sign Fulmer and or Hand / Chafin. And I still see posters complaining about getting SS's.... What is so hard for baseball fans to understand that the SS is almost always the best all around player on the field???? A SS can move to ANYWHERE on the field . Other than catcher a SS can easily move to 3b/2nd/1st. Corner oF is another east transition. Hand eye coordination is usually very high. usually have decent speed and almost always a strong arm. I'm guessing way over half of SS drafted never play the majority of their MLB games at short.....Lot's are moved in the minors and NEVER play a game at SS in the bigs..
  3. Wife and I have done the Royals road trip a couple times and I have lived in KC in my younger years going to many games there. It's a nice stadium and the fans there are great. I live in southern MN and it's only a 6 hour drive for us. Royals fans are by far more friendly than let's say the Brewers fans. We have done the Brewer's road trip as well and will never go there again. Our experience was being harassed by drunken fans 10 ft from ushers who looked the other way. Some pretty tough acting fans when 5/6 of them try and corner me with my 4ft 11 " wife.....ours was a 2 game experience and it happened both games exiting the stadium. Miller Park by the way sucks , especially for what was a newer stadium at the time. And i was amazed at the sausage they sold there...I thought WI would nail it , but it was average at best. I've been to at least 25 games at Royals stadium and NEVER have a single issue. Target Field 1 Wrigley 2 Kauffman 3 Petco 4 Texas stadium 5 Ranger ballpark in Arlington I believe they called it. Metrodome 6 Met stadium 7 Miller Park 8 County Stadium 9 Parks I've been to in person and ranked. And yes I know Wrigley really does suck as a actual facility , but the legend still lives. And if I could rank MIller lower I would but only another Brewers stadium could be worse.
  4. Found out there's not much market for a slick fielding horrible hitter. Only one team was bright enough to give $10 million to a player like that.
  5. Winning solves a LOT of problems , including attendence!!!!! I like the off season so far and will love it if they can add a solid LK pen piece.
  6. My god we have OF's now.....every team in baseball now knows they hold the chips when the brain trust calls up trying to unload Keplar. Better call the Marlins back up.
  7. If Buxton is in the lineup 161 games next year I'll eat a crow on main street at high noon. LOL OMG Put the bong down Cheech!!!!!! Hell I'll of won the lottery and also been hit by lightening 6 times by then too!!!!!! That , my friend , is positive thining!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. LH pen piece would make me feel better. Moore/Chafin/Hand???
  9. I'm far more concerned about the bullpen arms than worried about the OF options.....Get Chafins agent on the line , and Matt Moore or Brand Hands as well.....
  10. Looking at Star trib boards this am was comical...people comparing Araez to the likes of Rod Carew. Good lord people. Araz is no Carew ....Carew in particular was a gold glove fielder , incredible baserunner , possibly the best bunter of the era and won batting titles with FAR higher averages....career average is 14 points higher than Araez title winnning season in a very long career. When Araez hits .333 , .350 , .364 .388 and .359 you get back to me. Rodney Cline Carew would of had 10 more triples on Louis' doubles. And Rodney routinely turned 20 of his singles into doubles by stealing 2nd base.
  11. Has anyone seen him??? Is he still 25 lbs overweight???? (being generous in the 25 I think too) He was simply too lazy to even attempt to be in shape. Professional athletes don't show up 25 lbs overweight every spring training. Twins shouldn't of had to watch him attempt to get in playing shape in June.
  12. I would go right back to the Marlins and see what they would offer for Keplar / Gordon / Lewis and Pagan.....some pairing from that pool of players. Try and get Luzardo
  13. I like it To get good pitching you need to give up something good in return. Unless you think the Twins should start handing out 35-45 million a year contracts to free agent pitchers. Miami was a good partner to trade with....Twins need arms badly and Miami needs hitters. The prospects to me put this trade in our favor , but they may flame out just as easily. Time will tell......those Miami players now come to a team that can make the playoffs easier than the Marlins probably can. Lopez's stats should improve in a weak central division compared to the AL East. I had hoped Carbrera or Luzardo but Lopez is as good as anything we have and better than most. Injuries on both center peices of the trade may be issues also. Araez could sure make contact , but that was his only skill. No position to speak of....serviceable 1b and terrible 3rd and bad 2nd! slower than a plow horse didn't help either.
  14. Well anyone with eyes could see the Vikings were not going anywhere deep in the playoffs so no idea how anyone could/would cry over their loss. Horrically bad defenses don't go deep into NFL playoffs...period.
  15. Carew and Mauer were gold glove fielders at multiple positions. Areaz is below average fielder at any position he plays. Period. Twins have needed arms for YEARS. To get something good you need to give up something good. (unless your a Yankee fan who seem to think their crap players all deserve good players in return). You have Martin/Lewis/Gordon and others in the wings to replace Araez while we don't have many top of rotation options in our AAA levels.
  16. Too much going to Marlins.....if they thru in LH reliever Blier then ok
  17. Great idea. It worked out great with Royce last year so why not take a middle infielder with little to zero experience and see if we can screw up two years of his career.
  18. It's real simple. Sell high on him. Our biggest weakness for years AND years had been pitching, Sell high and address pitching. He has no real position and most the places we try him he is below average at best. Package him with Keplar or one of the lhh corner outfielders and go get pitching from the Marlins or AZ. I say Lopez and Luzardo for Araez and Kepler. Araez also is poor in the running game.
  19. Moving on from Sanchez was a big plus..............losing Urshela was a big negative. Have yet to address pen , guy like Chafin would be a big signing I believe. Getting Maeda back could be a massive improvement if he's healthy and effective. Defensively at 3b we will be going backwards with Miranda. And like a poster above stasted , how could Pagan possibly be worse??????
  20. Araez / Kepler/ Farmer and a class A lottery ticket to Marlins for Lopez / Luzardo and Max Meyer!
