  1. he most certainly was not. 1. i was talking about kepler's career (101 wRC+) 2. kepler last year had a 95 wRC+, gallo was at 85
  2. i'm not apt to think too much about this when his ankle may or may not be an overripe banana.
  3. despite what a lot of people say, there's no reason to give away a guy a guy with nearly 3,500 league average career plate appearances to make room for two prospects who are great but have been injured and two outfielders with big-time swing-and-miss in their profiles (gallo and baby gallo matt wallner).
  4. "After announcing discounted tickets, Luis Arraez was traded, and fans now have voices with dollars again" what does this even mean
  5. maybe it's my age showing or just how the game progressed through the years, but was killebrew REALLY more popular than puckett? i find it hard to believe. better person? without a doubt. better character? obviously. more popular? consider me dubious.
  6. if they perceive themselves to be tapped out budget wise -- whatever -- they should trade kepler and sign luke voit and michael fulmer for that amount of cash.
  7. i always thought junior ortiz was better than his father, senior ortiz
  8. it's possible. but plenty of players have needed time to find their bearings on a big-league field. it's a big-league skill set, anyhow.
  9. i don't really see it. unsustainable is dipping into free agency every year and handing out big contracts. more sustainable is trading for guys who are pretty good that you think/hope you can make better. more sustainable yet -- most sustainable? -- is developing your own (which seems to be the plan they're moving toward)
  10. hey good for him. seemed like a nice dude and had stretches where he was decent.
  11. One thing I've noticed this offseason is that the Twins seem to be following a curious pattern. So, they signed Christian Vazquez, right? He's a pretty decent hitting catcher, a very good defender and swings from the right side. Sound familiar? They also traded for Michael A. Taylor, a right-handed hitter with some speed and terrific defense. Sound familiar? To some extent too, the Twins bringing back Carlos Correa is also maybe a signal for another player they thought would be a franchise-transforming shortstop. It's possible I'm overthinking this, but bringing in Vazquez as the template for what they'd like Ryan Jeffers to be seems far from accidental. The same thing can be true for Taylor with Gilberto Celestino, who is almost certainly gonna start the season at St. Paul. Celestino had more than his share of gaffes on the field last season, but the template is there for a good defender with some speed and a bit of pop from the right side. For Royce Lewis, I can't imagine a better mentor/player to model his game after than Correa. I don't know. It's possible I'm overthinking this. What do you think?
  12. he's more washed than a jockstrap after game 162 hard pass
  13. tony gwynn is dead so i think his trade value is only marginally higher than emilio pagan's. that trade is awful.
  14. though with that said, can someone/anyone explain to me why we're thinking a 32-year-old utility infielder with four MLB innings in the outfield is going to fill this role? anyone?
  15. hold up, we're not comparing royce lewis and kyle farmer here, are we? thanks, i needed a laugh this morning.
  16. i am once again asking this fan base to stop worrying about everything for just one gd second
  17. it makes no sense to trade gray even if they add a starter. right now roster resource has their rotation as gray, ryan, mahle, maeda and ober. gray, ryan and mahle have all missed time in the last year and ober is by no means guaranteed to give you innings. who knows what maeda can provide at this point. subtracting from that group feels like a baaaaad idea
  18. the problem here is that he last reached those marks: 38 home runs (never) 98 rbi (never even close) 90 runs scored (never even close) 162 games (never even close) .800 OPS (not since 2019) I have no problem with the idea of bringing him back but his 162-game paces mean almost nothing
