  1. 86 wins - but I think it depends on how Rocco uses the pitching staff. If he pulls early and often and the bullpen is crushed by September....it'll be a repeat of last year. I think that played into our collapse as much as injuries did.
  2. I think Jorge Lopez will be this years version of colome or pagan... I hope I'm wrong but that's the feel I have..
  3. Probably not the comment you want to read but a pitcher in the twins organization that already has shoulder issues and can't be allowed to throw over 4 innings is not what I want to hear when talking about our "top" pitching prospect. It feels like he'll end up going the Duran route. I hope I'm wrong.
  4. I totally agree! CES and Steer are going to be legit MLB players and very possibly all star caliber players for years to come. I was really looking forward to encarnacion-strand in a twins uni. We absolutely did not get the reds to overpay there.
  5. I think if Gray stays healthy and is allowed to go deeper into games he will be that guy. He knows how to pitch and he can throw.
  6. I like Correa there. Polo would be fine too. Nick Gordon when he's in.
  7. If it's not Alcantara the twins don't need "him" whoever him is. We don't need anything other than a true #1. We've got a solid group of 2s and 3s and some intrigue in the pipeline. What puts us over the edge is an ace. Give up Larnach, Martin, Kep and Polo for him. A trade for anything less than an ace doesn't do it for me.
  8. At what point to we stop saying "the contract is astronomical" and just realize that's the world we live in. Our 60k salaries are now worth 30k. A 5 million dollar contract is now worth 30 mil and the only way to get someone to sign is to pay them for years they will be obsolete... Not to mention, only the rich can truly afford to go to more than a few games a year in person.
  9. I think last year our front office got played in the trades they made. I think Steer and CES are going to be above average major league players and we barely got major league talent in return. That makes a rebuild tough when you ship off high level prospects for rentals or worse. That being said... A line up of Arraez, Polanco, Buck, Gallo, Miranda, Waller, larnach, kiriloff, Vazquez... If they're all healthy... Actually sounds like a winning line up with Gordon and Jeffers and maybe Julien or Lee, celestino on the bench. Larnach and Kiriloff have hit at every level but mlb. Wallner has shown no fear moving up. This lineup could hit with the right approach. Starters of Gray Maeda Mahle Ryan and Ober might not win a playoff series but very well could win a playoff game which would be a start. No true number one but three maybe four number twos or threes. Trade or sign two more high level relief pitchers and let's go! This is a team that has very little room for error and I feel needs to change their hitting approach some but if healthy, they should compete to win this division. One more year, then we lose a lot of pitching and things get scary.
  10. Saving Winder for a start in 5 days won't work...he should've thrown today so he'd be in line to start in Ober's spot. Grey probably won't be quite ready by then if he hasn't thrown a rehab game yet.
  11. Thoughts on the first week of ball - The twins will struggle against good pitching - we don't make enough contact. The Paddock trade makes no sense to me at all. We will give away a game a week because of "rest". I'm hopeful for Archer and Bundy to give us decent starts though. Maybe similar to what we got out of Big Mike? Can't we get Miranda up somehow? He'd give us so much more than an injured Kirloff and the typical Sano. Also, lets get a good look at Gordon someway, somehow. Thoughts on this - is it Rocco's philosophy that leads to the Twins being one of the worse teams in baseball the last two years with runners in scoring position and bad defense or is it the players that we have?
