  1. Luis Arraez and Ichiro Suzuki have similar career stats as hitters: BA, OBP, SLG, OPS are very similar. They are both Hall of Fame caliber players with their bats.
  2. Luis Arraez is my #1 hero this season. His WAR is currently 1.5 and he's a top contender for the AL batting title. His career OBP against RHP is .396 and against LHP is .355. Arraez draws walks against left-handed pitchers extremely frequently, he should be in the starting lineup virtually every day. Rocco should only rest Arraez against select left-handers. The Twins have a bunch of heroes on their pitching staff. Their team ERA is currently ranked 4th in the AL and 1st in the AL Central division.
  3. Luis Arraez should play 1st Base against both right-handed and left-handed pitchers. His career OBP against LHP as well as RHP is high, with his career OBP against LHP almost as good as against RHP. Polanco and Correa will have more RBI and the Twins will score more runs with Arraez batting 1st or 2nd or 3rd in the batting order every game. Arraez career OBP against LHP is better than the OBP of the other players who have played 1st base this season. Rocco likes to gives his players rest periodically, so he should rest Arraez when certain LHP start games for the Twins opponents. 1st Base is a new defensive position for Arraez and he has done well so far. He will improve with more experience.

  5. Luis Arraez should be in the starting lineup almost every game. Looking at his career stats, Arraez has a great OBP against left handed as well as right handed pitchers. His BA is higher against right handers but he draws walks more than twice as often against left handers. Arraez career OBP against RHP is .380, against LHP is .363. Looking at the Twins roster, over the course of this season it can be expected that Arraez' OBP will be the highest on the Twins. The Twins need runners on base for their other batters to get RBIs. Arraez gets on base better more often than any other Twin. Obviously he has earned a starting role, he was a regular starter in 2019, 2020, and 2021 (except when he was injured). Luis Arraez should be in the starting lineup as the DH when he is not starting at another position. Arraez appears to be an average defensive player according to advanced defensive stats available. He is still a young player and can improve defensively, 1st Base could be the ideal defensive position for him. Without a man on base a hitter cannot get an RBI. Arraez gets on base better than any other Twin. With Arraez on the bench the Twins score significantly fewer runs. He should be batting 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in the batting order.
  6. The Twins won their Division in 2019 and 2020 with Polanco at shortstop and Luis Arraez at 2nd Base. With this lineup the Twins will maximize their ability to score runs and win games in 2022. Polanco and Arraez are more than good enough defensively at these positions.
