  1. I asked ChatGPT to create a fact based argument in favor of bunting. Thought you might enjoy. Bunting in baseball is a technique where a batter holds the bat in a stationary position in order to lightly tap the ball and move it into play. While it is a controversial strategy among baseball enthusiasts, there are some factual arguments in favor of bunting in certain situations. Scoring Runs: Bunting can be an effective strategy for teams with a weak offense, as it can help advance runners and create scoring opportunities. In a close game where a single run can make the difference, bunting can be a valuable tool to manufacture runs. Strategic Advantage: Bunting can also be used as a strategic tool to surprise the opposing team and catch them off guard. If the defense is not expecting a bunt, they may be caught out of position and give the offense a better chance to advance or score. Defensive Errors: Bunting can put pressure on the defense, potentially leading to errors or mistakes that give the offense an advantage. If the opposing team fields the ball poorly or throws it away, it can give the offense an opportunity to advance and potentially score. Pitcher Control: Bunting can also help to control the pace of the game and neutralize a dominant pitcher. If a pitcher is throwing fastballs and striking out batters, bunting can force them to pitch more slowly and carefully, potentially leading to mistakes or more hittable pitches. In conclusion, while bunting may not be the most exciting or glamorous part of baseball, it can be a valuable tool in certain situations. It can help teams manufacture runs, create strategic advantages, force defensive errors, and neutralize dominant pitchers.
  2. Miami does it right, 3 or 5 menu, for 3 you get dogs popcorn pretzel or soda for 5 you get beer
  3. We could have had Correa. I'm surprised he was willing to go that long for 350 I had thought it would be 10 at 35, this was much friendlier. Padres could spend this and so could we, it's all about resource allocation which the FO has done a poor job with. Consider that we have our TV deal coming up and we are coming from 2 sub 500 seasons, why would the networks think they will get a lot of impressions with the product on the field. Baseball is a business and it feels like we have poor allocates of resources.
  4. Why not try a Larnach Ober package for Woodruff. He'd be an upgrade, Lopez is like Bassit good but not for Luis. Some say he isn't worth an Ace, then if he doesn't have that value move prospects. Lopez is also similar to Gray, who we traded Petty for I. e. a mid 20s draft pick, are you trading Luis for a mid 20s draft pick?
  5. Hoping the Marlins get him with James again and not having to play in the cold.
  6. I agree it starts with the top, but I don't think it is payroll related. It starts with accountability. 2021 was there year of the injury, at least that was the excuse. Yes coming from 60 games to a full season is a challenge, but one that all teams faced and the twins did poorly. Now let's look at 2022, again injuries are blamed, did they get rid of their trainer, yes, but at the end of the season. The lack of urgency compared to other clubs is staggering (Jay's, Angels, Phillies) are made managerial changes in season, and many more did coaching changes. The twins did not act and only replaced the head trainer, if they deduced he was the issue why was he not replaced earlier. How about Wes leaving, dude was great. seemed everyone was surprised. It doesn't matter how good the LSU opportunity was. At the leadership level, they should be proactive about their employees experience and being surprised shows clear lack of effort. The post season is fun with high quality plays, the twins season even when in first place was not. Baseball is not about optimizing runs, it is an entertainment option that if you put a good team together then you get a extra month of performances. The twins don't get this, neither do a lot of teams but they are least make adjustments and have accountability.
  7. MLB, NBA should partner and create a bundle potential with options for just 1. MLB has history of building tech platforms and are good at it. Make content as near free as possible and focus on getting engagement up. Between ads, and affiliate rev from potential gaming rights the app should be like classic broadcast TV available to everyone. They can add more picture in picture ads, and offer hyper targeted ads so companies pay MLB more because of the amount of eyes on the content. If baseball was everywhere and accessable, the ad rev would be the best there is.
  8. I've long been a huge fan and sad to see him go. His truly random injuries robbed him if momentum and I wonder what might have been without Donaldson. I hope he signs with the Marlins, they need offense and have James Rowson. Plus I think he'll thrive in warm weather
  9. A note on the Montas deal, I recall seeing reports that Oak wanted a deal headlined with pitching, so I think that explains this. From a value standpoint, twins could match with Steer, Walner, Raya, Povich. Also MLB Trade Values tweeted that basically all Oak trades don't come close to their model, so Oak is using different assumptions on prospects than the majority of the league
  10. Ideal deadline 1) Trade Larnach and Miranda for Lopez and Bass from Miami 2) Trade Ober and Steer for Montas and Trivino Both these deals meet the value match on MLB Trade Values. Imagine a rotation of Montas, Lopez, Gray, Ryan. All controlable through the end of next year. We keep our top pitching prospects and Royce + Alex. Walner is close to ready and Alex can handle first or LF. We extend our RP and both can be retained for next year. This also buys time for Balazovic, Winder, and Conner and Caterino.
  11. His home road splits are interesting. If we could lead with Walner and keep the majors I'd be thrilled
  12. One of two things not listed. 1) trade Miranda and others for Montas freeing up first base time. 2) trade Nick Gordon for a RP with options
  13. MLB Trade Values two biggest changes were the increases to Steer and E Rod who are now at 14 and 15 respectfully for surplus value. I won't trade E Rod, his kind of damage in fort Myers is rare with you usually able to add 100 points to a hitters ops given the tough hitting conditions. I would be open to Steer, he is a bit of a pop up prospect and doesn't seem like he could profile at SS. Weirdly I think the biggest unknown is how Acala and Maeda are looking in recovery as if healthy they would be the top RP any team could add, Bednar not being traded.
  14. I think we take a prep player in 11. We saved money on day 2, two sign our top two of one of them doesn't sign then while we lose that bonus money we can take our day 2 savings and use it for prep player.
  15. I know some are down on Lee given comments that he may not stick at SS and not convinced by the comments that the bat will play. I would encourage those people to compare the 2015 draft profile of Alex Bergman vs Lee. Lee has same defense, arm, run, but is higher on contact and power.
