  1. Well the Cubs are draft a pitcher philosophy of late (especially this draft so far), but very little to show for it in the system. So buying and trading for SP is vital, of course it doesn't help when you trade Eloy Jimenez and Dylan Cease for Quintana, and spend heavy on Chatwood and Darvish. If the Twins can keep drafting and finding those OF and SS it makes trading them so much easier.
  2. As a Cubs fan, some offices are just better at finding and developing offensive players than pitchers. As far as drafting a college SS, it means little, often they'll transition to 2B/3B/CF
  3. If the Twins two top picks reach their power potential, you're talking 30 homers each
  4. I thought the same exact thing!! I'm a big fan of Carroll and Malone but I've seen them in person at the WWBA.
  5. Personally, I would have gone with Carroll at this point but the power potential of Cavaco is very tempting and he's one of those guys with all the tools in the world...
  6. Throws 100 mph, here's video I took nearly 3 years ago of him in the GCL https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1Iis_RgKfQ
  7. Twins had three options: 1) Keep and Extend Dozier 2) Keep Dozier for the rest of the season offer him a QO at ~18M and hope he signs elsewhere and get the #75th pick overall (between 2nd and 3rd rd) 3)Trade him now and get what you can
  8. Forsythe was taken in return to ease the Dodgers salary so they don't go over the cap
  9. Baseball America on Duran Preseason Midseason Now Duran ranked No. 10 on BA's revamped D-Backs Top 10 Prospects list, on the strength of his big-time arsenal. He's coveted for his size, projectability and arm strength. His four-seam fastball reaches into the upper 90s and has peaked at 98 mph this season, and he's also shown a two-seam fastball in the low 90s that has flashed plus at low Class A Kane County. He has feel to spin his curveball, but the pitch still needs further refinement to keep hitters from picking it up early. His changeup is well below-average.
  10. Of the 3, Charles Mack is going to cost the most with his talent and commit to Clemson, but not bank breaking. Mack is one of those guys who has above average hit and power skills but questions about his defense at SS. Yet he's athletic enough that some scouts think he'd be an above average catcher (as he catches part time for his HS team). Willie Joe Gary Jr was committed to Pearl River (Miss.) JC so I'm guessing that won't be a hard sign. While Regi Grace (BA rank: 482 overal and 14th in state of Miss) is committed to Mississippi State and his stock climbed towards the end as he gained 5 mph by season's end; he had been 88-90 but got it up to 92-93. Mechanically he has questions as he does medically with a bilaterally fracture of L4 and L5 that cost him junior year (from weightlifting) and had to wear a back brace for 5 months. He did have offers from LSU, Ole Miss, and Auburn so the talent is definitely thought to be there.
  11. Williams is interesting (he's a college senior for one) especially if the Twins think he can stay behind the plate as a catcher but it's not for lack of skill, it's due to a prior shoulder injury. Last year he was likely a 3rd-5th round pick before tearing the joint capsule ligaments in his right shoulder, not the labrum or the rotator muscles. It's not a very common injury but it scared teams away last year (he went in the 31st round) and looks like again this year too. His power game is huge but as is his swing and miss. Here's what BA had to say about him:
