  1. I agree Marney would a great replacement for Bremer. She did well doing play by play during a spring training game or two last year. I ran into her at the Goose Island Pub in the left field area this season and told her she should take Dick's job. She smiled and rolled her eyes.
  2. You made me look. Zoilo was with the Twins 1961 through 67. During that time Harmon played less than 200 games at 3B. Mostly played LF and 1B. Rich Rollins played a lot at third those years.
  3. I was just suggesting there may have been a relationship between Falvey and Shelton that could make him a strong possibility. “Lion’s share of the people we’ve brought in were people we didn’t have a previous relationship with” leaves the door open that they had a relationship with some. As a young intern, Falvey may have been impressed with Shelton and eagerly added him to the Twins staff with possible plans for the future. Or not.
  4. Shelton was Indians hitting coach from 2005-2009. Falvey joined the Indians in 2007.
  5. Surprised no one has mentioned Derek Shelton. He was probably Falvey's choice all along. Came from Cleveland and made bench coach in case Molitor faltered so he would be ready to takeover when the opportunity presented itself.
  6. How long do we continue with Kepler in right field? Maybe a platoon of Kepler and Buxton next year, with Rosario and Cave starting the other outfield positions? I agree that they should be playing Polanco at second to see if that is a viable option. Lewis and Gordon are probably a year away from being our middle infielders (or longer to save service time!)
  7. Buxton is a bust. He is injury prone and his slow starts last five months. We have seen him as good as he gets. Good D no offense. It is time to set our sites on the next group and hope they pan out. Bringing Buxton up now has no effect as he won’t be in the organization when the extra year kicks in. September stats for non-contending teams don’t matter. Remember Chris Parmalee’s September a few years back? Remember Chris Parmalee? Point taken.
  8. Great idea, but no mention of May and Moya. Do you not consider them part of the future?
  9. A lot will depend if Paul Molitor is manager still. If he is- when Lewis is called up- he will sit on the bench, get a token start or two- then sent back down- only to be brought up later- for a month playing sporadically then sent down again- with his timing and confidence shot- pushing back his progression a year or two. I hate being a realist at times:(
  10. great dominant left handed hitter-- three batting titles-- career hampered with injuries--borderling HOF candidate? Are we talking about Joe Mauer or Tony Oliva?
  11. FYI-- The Twins traded Greg Nettles to the Indians following the 1969 season as part of the Luis Tiant transaction. It would have be nice to have kept him, but in those years we had Killebrew at third. Rich Reese had hit .322 in 1969 was at first-- so they must have thought Reese was a better option than Nettles otherwise they would have moved Harmon to first.
