  1. And Dean implodes in the 2nd inning. Perhaps the Twins are challenging their 9 game losing streak - after today's likely loss, that'll be 8 in a row.
  2. I don't think Hughes is guaranteed to be healthy for the start of 2017.
  3. I don't agree with the comparison here. Willingham and Suzuki had career years in their 30s, while it seems clear to me that Dozier (29) is still in his prime. Dozier is prone to massive slumps, but he's not going to disappear as a hitter like Suzuki/Willingham did. But yes, if you're going to sell high, do it now. But I'm not going to be mad if they don't trade him. They have him under contract for 2 more years, so they could trade him in 2017 or even 2018.
  4. Did you see Ponder's start when he backed up Bridgewater in 2014? He was horrendous. Shaun Hill was at least mediocre in his 2014 in his 8 starts with the Rams. They should have upgraded, but there weren't many options.
  5. Plouffe and Milone need to go. I'm iffy on Santiago. I fully expect the Twins to tender him, but who knows who the new GM will be.
  6. I have to say, putting Santana in LF might have saved their butts that inning.
  7. You're right, I remember calling for the Twins to promote Meyer during 2014. He was pitching well and that's what was creating some excitement [even here at Twins Daily]. But then 2015 happened and the excitement disappeared.
  8. Hooray, it's Pat Dean! Serving up a HR to Morales. I guess the Twins have finally embraced how bad they are. Even though the last 2 months looked pretty good.
  9. Pat Dean? You mean the guy who's struggling (5.56 ERA) against AAA batters? They couldn't have called up somebody like Pat Light or add some to the 40 man roster? Great, now we have Dean and Albers in the bullpen. Who woulda thunk?
  10. The Twins CAN be good next season. Whether the GM improves this team over the offseason and the development of our young guys will decide whether this will be a good team or a terrible one in 2017. The team's ceiling is high but the floor is very low.
  11. Way to go Polanco! Now, will Berrios be able to blow this lead?
  12. I'm not concerned yet. Our other starters (Gibson, May come to mind) struggled very badly when they first came up, and it took time for them to learn. Berrios will get better.
  13. I think Kepler is my new favorite Twin. I kinda stopped having favorite players a while ago, but Kepler is transcending that decision.
  14. Could you post the source? I don't get why the Twins would want Santiago right now...
  15. I like the Abad trade. Getting Pat Light is a nice return. He's got a 10.5 K/9 in AAA with a 2.32 ERA. If the Twins can figure out how to get his pitches under control, then he could be a very good major league reliever. Hopefully Chargois will be going up and somebody like Duffey or Boshers will be going down. It's time to give J. T. a fair shake. Also, if Santana gets traded, it sounds like it'll be the Blue Jays. I wouldn't trade him unless I got a very good offer, so I'm interested to see what might happen.
  16. For 2017, I see Santana, Gibson, and hopefully Berrios in the rotation. The other two spots will have to be filled somehow - perhaps Mejia wins one, maybe the Twins remember that May was a good starter, or they trade/sign a FA. I'd like it if the Twins didn't go into 2017 with Milone or Nolasco locked into a spot.
  17. Ah, reminds me of when I dropped Glen Perkins 2 weeks into 2015. That turned out be a pretty terrible decision... until the All-Star break, of course.
  18. I know Escobar is healthy, he started yesterday at 3B. I would guess the Twins rotate Escobar & Polanco at SS.
  19. OK, I thought I saw that he wasn't on their roster, but you have to be right. So the Twins remain with 3 open spots on the 40 man roster.
  20. What makes you say that? He's only started 7 games in AAA in his career. If the Twins don't think Berrios is ready, then they definitely don't think Mejia is ready. Also, does anyone know if Mejia will be on the 40 man roster?
